View Full Version : What kind of bitless bridle?

Since my bitless rides in my lungeing cavesson were so successful, I'm thinking of taking the leap and buying a bitless bridle to wear out regularly instead of just my cavesson. I want one as gentle as possible, as Mear is so gentle and good she doesn't need any 'control' just direction. I'd like something that'll give my cues as crystal clearly as the cavesson does, and be as easy to put on. (The cavesson goes on like a halter, I'm tired of trying to slip a bridle on over the ears!)

Would you people mind advising me on what bridle to get? I think I saw a post on bitless already going and I'll also check that thread out, but I would like to know if there is a halter type bridle hanging around.

Also if you happen to own or have ever owned the bridle you recommend, would you kindly tell me how the horse went in it, and possibly provide links to show how it works if you don't know yourself?

Thanks very much!

I have a Dr Cook and a Nurtural. I like the Nurtural much better :) They function on the same principal - however I find it less fidely and doesn't move around as much. His part boarder also found it easier to put on

The sidepull is the most basic bitless bridle and comes with either a rope or a leather nose - I reckon you'd be fine with the leather :)

i have a leather sidepull on my little one, its really a dr cook leather noseband buckled onto my normal bridle. it looks very posh and is alot cheaper than the full sidepull bridles.
