Hi all.
Some of you may be aware I've got myself a little mare that I am bringing on slowly. She's 3yo. I've sat on her whilst being lunged several times now, even leaving a break of a month or two then gradually starting up again. I've had no problems (touch wood!) and she's not played up. She tries really hard.
Anyway. Yesterday for the FIRST TIME EVER, I rode her off the lunge. She was very uncertain at first and not at all sure what the squeezy leg thang was about, but with the help of vocal commands and a bit of patience, I got her moving forwards in walk, turning and stopping. She walked backwards a few times in response to the squeeze  which is to be expected, but with lots of clucking and kissy noises and "walk on!" we got there and did quite well.
All in all I'm really pleased with her and glad that my little girl is finally becoming aware of the big grown up world of riding!!
Ah bless :D
