Boas, because anecdotal evidence and an AANHCP website suggested they were the way to go, plus the fact my local tack shop sold them.

They're really easy to get on and off and for my horse at least work an absolute treat. I can do absolutely everything without them coming off or rubbing :)

We chose Boas for several reasons:
*They come with gaiters which was important to us since we ride through deep sand and muddy creeks and didn't want anything rubbing
*They are easy to take on and off
* Beside the Swiss Boot it was the only one the AANHCP recommended (and we don't have anybody in our state to fit Swiss boots)
* I heard they would be a better fit for our horse's hoof angles than the Old Macs

They worked well for us. I had one lace lock up on me but Boa replaced it quickly under warranty and I haven't had any problems with it since.
The only thing I'd really recommend is get the gaiters with the boots and familiarize yourself with how tight you need to make the dial so you don't make it too tight.

I had old macs, don't use boots anymore. Tried Boas first, the front rubbed Rox's legs no matter how loose I did them up, couldn't get ones to fit her back feet (one size to small, next too big), opinionated little madam hated them, tried the gaiters and trying to get those and boots on caused the final strop where I decided to sell them. I've had old macs since, put them on and went out for a 1 1/2 hour ride (very naughty!) and had no problems with them at all, and none of the funny walks we used to do in Boas. Never moved or came off even when madam did really silly things in them.

I use the marquis boots from Stride-Equus - they're really well-made, and easy to put on and take off. They don't work loose, and every part is replaceable. However, they cost more than the whole rest of the horse :)

I use Swiss Hoof Boots and think they are the best I have tried (tried Marquis, Boa, Old macs). They fit really well , have never rubbed, stay on really well and can have studs added to them. They last really well and are easy to look after, available on ebay.

I use the Marquis super boots. I chose them for several reasons. Partly because you can replace all the parts and partly because I thought the air filled bits might make them rub less but largely because you can hire them first then have the hire fee deducted from the price. I found this really useful as my mare is on the border line of 2 sizes so I had to send one lot back and get another size.

They are fairly easy to put on although their feet have to be clean so have to hose her hooves in muddy weather. (might not be strictly necessary but I don't want grit to rub her. I find that mine come off sometimes when cantering (maybe because she is at the bottom end of the size) but I only use them for for gravel tracks and if she is doing loads and loads of road work. They don't rub and she seems happy in them.

I think the best brand depends on your horse. Old Macs website said they wouldn't be suitable for my horse because of the shape of her feet (They're as long as they are wide). If I could have hired Boa boots I would have tried them too as she would be in the middle of the size so might have been a better fit.
