I don't know. Probably depends on what you are planning to do with it? I would be worried they don't hold up and the hoof slips out posing a bit of a hazard.

someone posted a really interesting thread on another forum about Houston mounted police, where they have some horses barefoot. But they do still use boots - for example where there may be debris on the ground that the horse needs protecting from
It was interesting to see their feedback on boots - as they need to get good value for money and they give them a fair bashing :p

my girl maddie has started getting a bit footy on gravel, i think its the weather, im trying to fitten her up a bit, so at the moment i think boots would be an idea.
she has been fine on all surfaces until recently, so id only be using them while the weather is fowl all the time.
im thinking about shoofs aswell.

I am pretty sure they changed to a different boot after Katrina. Greg said the extended hours caused some horses to get sores. For extreme situations they ahd better luck with Hoof Wings- which really surprised me because the only time I have seen Hoof Wings was at Martha O's seminar and somebody ahd brought theirs in to show how fast they had worn out.
