hi. im new here. i was just wondering about dressage, as I am very interested in it. I have been riding for 2 an a quarter years and I love it! I really want to do dressage. I am quite nervous at handling horses and get nervous with naughty horses to ride but I don't have a horse and I go for regular riding lessons at a riding stables near me. I would really like to do dressage, but I don't know how to go about it, as I can't afford to buy a horse, but want to practise and have better lessons for doing dressage. Please help! thanks. by the way, there are some really funny posts on here!!! hi, thanks and byeeee!

HI!

I have been riding about as long as you!

I take regular lessons too, and cant get a horse! , and i love dressage. geesh, we have a lot in common! lol

If you want to get into dressage, and you have a good foundation, you can call around, or check out to see if there are any dressage instructors in your area.

My instructor that ive had the whole time ive been riding i like a dressage instructor, but we do jumping too.

I LOVE dressage! its SOO beautiful when done right!

Do you have MSN, PM me if you do, and if you wanna chat to someone, im always here!

Hello Ponytail (great name, by the way)
I've been riding for a couple of years also, which sounds quite a lot, BUT when you are only riding once a week or so for a hour in a lesson environment it can be quite limiting. The school organised informal dressage comps where you could use a school horse to compete on.
I then started going on trail rides and longer hacks at a stable with sharper horses. From there I got a part loan to see if I could really handle the whole horse thing from a time and committment perspective. Needless to say I was hooked and now I have a horse on full loan. I'm doing some dressage (easy stuff, I'm practicing P2 and P6) jumping and I want to do some Workers with him next year. So - I suppose I'm trying to say that I know how frustrating it can feel when you want more than just a hour a week on horseback. BUT pls stick with it, because when the opportunity for more riding comes your way, you'll be ready!

hi ponytail,
can you get individlue lessons at your riding stables? If you can then why not get a couple of those and tell your instructor that you want to concentrate on dressage.
I too don't have a horse but have compeated in two dressage comps on riding school horses. (acctually rad horses. I'm a volunteer at my local rda and got to ride in the dressage comp as I was stewarding the collecting ring with a friend, who also got to ride.)
I'm now trying to get into jumping. But it's difficult. I don't pay for lessons you see. I get a free ride about once a month at the rda center, and you just join in with the class, they rarley do jumping. Usually just hacking out.
I'm trying to save up money to get a few individule lessons soon. hopefully starting next week or the week after.
