Hi there i was the other one that started the ND diploma thread so i'm answering on your thread the ND course enables you to do a lot of things one you come out with three A-levels so if you don't want to continue eith horses after the course then it enables you to go to universtity. Second thing when you are doing the course as well as doing that i'm sure if its complusory or if its an option but you can do the Ride and road saftey, bhs 1,2,3. You wanted to know what facilities Bishop Burton had as well

The facilities at the Centre are outstanding and include:

Indoor Arena 1 20m x 60 m with new purpose built gallery

Indoor Arena 2 30m x 65m

Outdoor Arena 50m x 60m

100 stables

Practical Demonstration Room

Horsewalker

Equine Treadmill

Solarium

Equine Weighbridge

Mechanical Horse

Two Large Tackroom’s

Equine Therapy Laboratory

Cross Country Courses

Vending Machines

Equine Laundry Facilities

Off Road Hacking Track (opens Spring 2006)

People who go on this course

Gain positions of responsibility within the horse industry as riding instructors, freelance teachers, yard supervisors or within the retail sector. With additional experience, students have gone on to management positions within the industry as assistant yard and unit managers.

I recently went for an interview at this college last friday and we talked about what i wanted to do later in life, what experience i had with horses (on the ground and riding) i then had to do a riding assessment it oonly took 5 minutes tops were i had to walk, trot and canter on both reins.

If you want more information i can give you some more!!!!!

go to as many open days as you can for various colleges, this is the only way you'll get a real feel for the place, the staff and students there, i go to Warwickshire College and have loved every minute of it, i lived on campus in my first year and had a blast and its a great to way to make friends and the bar is always handy too! They also do student livery which is around £45 per week DIY for straw and £50 i think for shavings and this includes your bedding, hay and most feed depending what you have. The facilities are similar we have a 60x40 outdoor arena, 60x20 covered arena and 60x20 indoor arena, treadmill, horsewalker, examination room, free shoeing if done by the apprentice farriers, mechanical horse, cross country courses which are open for students after 3day events, lots of hacking, competitions and clinics which are all open to students, the turnout is a bit limited but there is a yard down the road from the college which some of the students use which has year round turnout i think
