~ ditto ~
Any update Imp on the vet thing or would you rather not reveal publicly? In any case, how is it going with the gorgeous Megan?
And as for Little Dolphins.... well clearly her and HQ are still "sunning themselves in Oz" rather than face up to the "Bareback Challenge" hehehe.... :D

You are sounding a little smug, Domane:p Just you wait until (if) I get my fell pony! Of course, will be airbrushing pics to appear thinner thighed/more glamourous but stiil....

Thanks for thinking of us :)
Update re Megan's heart: 5* vetting vet said he had spoken to my vet, had heard her 'allegations' against him and had referred the matter to his indemnity insurers  He went on to say how these heart murmurs affected 1:4 horses and were common
My vet however had brought her colleague to visit Megan to listen to her heart as (in her words) they seldom heard these things! My vet was also not looking forward to opposing the 5* vetting vet as she respected him as an extremely experienced vet who taught other vets how to conduct vettings and had attended seminars lead by him :o
The vetting vet (sorry if this is getting too longwinded :o ) failed to acknowledge the fact that I would have rejected her at the first stage had I known of her heart issues due to her being my first horse. He also failed to mention anything to do with the fact that her resale value is £0 (I couldn't lie to anybody that wanted to take her on, I care about her).
I now have to pay for an independent vet to give their findings  and, this could go to court... I'm fully prepared for this, much as I now love her, the worst case scenario is I lose my job and can't find a good home for her because nobody would want to take her... Also, if she develops a heart complaint I'm not covered on her insurance :( and on, and on....
.. on the plus side WE LOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEE HER so much, she has perfect manners on the ground; got a bit to learn under saddle but not out of reach  She knows who mummy is and loves being groomed and hugged and given treats - what a lovely girl.
LD, where are you? All ok?

Thanks for updating us Imp - I'm so sorry that this looks like it's going to be a long drawn out process - here's lots of positive vibes for a good outcome. In the meantime enjoy her as she sounds so gorgeous (any piccies?)

Imp, so glad to hear you and Megan are getting on so well, has she made any pony friends yet? She does sound a sweetheart. Have you hacked out or sticking to the school?
Don't envy you the legal battle. I am now almost 6 years into mine and MAY be in court this summer, but could be longer. Sure yours will be much quicker though. Do vets have a professional board who would investigate this more quickly? As a nurse I was affiliated to a central nursing council and should I have been accused of a serious error when I was still practising then they would have investigated. Just a thought.
LD, hope you are ok, that saddle was sorted and that the "sunburn" isn't too bad!
Viewing new horsie next weekend, if all goes well then will certainly be up for bareback!
Spoke to nice lady last night who is offering me her 21 yr old 15.1highlandXcob mare. Sounds very sweet - a total school mistress and quiet hack but she does have 2 melanomas and a sarcoid so would have to get advice on this. Could be for loan or sale at token price. Said I would call her after next weekend.
Also, just last night had an email and pics from TF in his new home - he is looking very well and happy and has settled wonderfully with his lovely new mum. Made me really happy to hear this. She is so right for him.

Urgh, bums, sorry to hear about the dilemma, Imp :(
The fact is, though, that 'vetting vet' should have investigated the murmurs further even if they did turn out to be innocent. At the very least he should have mentioned them in his report.
Apart from the crap that is going with her your girl sounds an absolute delight :) All the best with her x

Hi guys: new challenge! Surfing on horseback-so cool, you should try it! Salt water helps you stick on. HQ's 'leg at each corner' a great feature for this activity, steady as a rock. Soz no pics- camera got soaked by big wave:D
Ahem... well, back at the yard in Little Britain, everything is going happily, despite NO saddle yet. My views on service in this area are worth a good rant, but I won't bore you!
However, two lessons a week each from the RI with lungeing and Monty R. lady for feet issues are keeping a structure of activity going. Harley Q is delightful. We have both begun to chill, and I think she likes me (and not just the treats in my pocket!). I think she's absolutely beautiful and I still spend ages gazing at her. I'm doing my first oil painting of her from a photo.
I bought her with saved-up proceeds from sales of my work,(instead of repairing house and paying off debt) and need to do more to earn our keep!
I love being at the yard, even in freezing weather. I like mucking out-YO says just wait- I said you don't know how weird I am. More soon, love, LD:)

If he's calling in his insurers at this stage, he's worried! And as far as "failing to acknowledge" that your decision to purchase was based on his vetting - well, he would say that wouldn't he!
It might be worth talking to your insurers about this as they will have to know anyway and they may have some useful advice for you. Alternatively there is a scheme where you can have a short interview with a solicitor (it used to be 15 minutes for £5 but it's probably gone up a bit now) to get some simple advice. Also there is the local Citizens' Advice Bureau (address & phone number in the phone book or at your local library. There service is free and they will often write a letter form you

Have the melanomas checked by a vet, but don't be overly concerned. They are quite common on grey horses. Mine had over 14 taken off after I got her. You will want the vet to check under her tail, between her udders and in the mouth- they seem to hide there quite frequently. The good thing about melanoma is that unlike human melanoma which is very serious cancer, horses only have trouble if they get too big and go internal- very rare. They are relatively easy to remove, and once a few are removed the others start shrinking- my vet says there is an immune response that is very helpful in melanomas.
Sarcoids are not serious- just a 'wart', that, although may be unsightly and can be agressive, are benign. They tend to recurr after being cut out, but sounds like that horse is worth the little extra care!

That's good news LD - some pics soon please (or have I missed them on another thread?). Flump thanks for mentioning about TF - it's really good to know he has settled so weel, and gives you the feeling you can move on without guilt.

Glad you're ok LD, was getting concerned about you not being around so much lately :p
Update: Had letter from vetting vet's  professional negligence indemnity insurers. They want to speak to my vet and, if necessary, pay to have a 3rd party vet examine Megan. OH thinks it looks like they're just going through the motions and will cough up for the fact he should have picked it up.

Hey, The fourth Monty R. session and HQ let me pick up her hind feet properly. The problem one is the off hind foot; someone must have hurt her/ messed her about way back somewhen. We are going to do some other handling work in the school, too, not because of any particular issue, but because it's a marvellous way to be with her and to learn. I'm lucky to have the qualified instructor on this yard:)

Imp, good news.Looks as though it may not be too protracted for you.:)
Little D, also good news. Hope the saddle is good, and it looks as though the bond's really starting to form. I like the sound of the Monty Roberts stuff you're doing.:)
