I have to mostly ride at night, but am lucky enough to have a small circular 20m school which is floodlit. My question is, what can I do in it to stop me and pony getting bored but so that I can continue to improve/school her?
I have been putting trotting poles at quarters acroos he school. I could also put the poles at an angle (up on bottom panel of the school fencing) and jump them I suppose. My friend has a big horse 17hh, would it be OK to do some jumping across these poles at a trot in such a small circle?
Any ideas for what we can do would be great.
Thank you!

You could try some basic mounted games type stuff, to help with bending, brakes etc, and to make your pony bombproof. Stuff like bending in and out of cones or flags are quite easy. You could also try vaulting!
As for the 17hh horse, it should be alright over poles on a circle, my friend does poles on circles with his 16.2hh although we do have a 40m by 20m school, so the horse can go straight sometimes.

www.lindatellingtonjones.com look under horses for ground exercises or look out for her books on Ebay/Amazon. Try anything for Handy Pony, walking over an old NZ rug, post a letter, put a hoop up for netball etc.
Have fun, Susie xx

How about a bit of lunging and/or join up.
