Can anyone suggest a show jumping teacher for my 10yr old. South Wales/Gloucestershire.

She has been jumping up to about 2ft, but doesn't seem to be able to make the transition to something slightly bigger, and has trouble getting the pony to maintain canter (probably why she can't get over the bigger jumps).

she has been having group lessons up to now, but I guess if she wants to go further with it, I'm going to have to splash out on some private lessons:(

Have a look on the BHS web site - they have a list of registered instructors by area...

Is it the rider or the pony who is having problems with the height. Most ponies will jump readily up to this height but will need a little more positive riding for anything bigger. You firstly need to address the canter problem as this is the key to jumping. Could she go to Pony Club rallies, they are usually very good at getting children and ponies jumping together.

Are you looking for lessons in a riding school, or a private instructor to come out and teach you with your own pony?

I'm across the river as it were in Berkeley/Sharpness, there are a couple of instructors here who I rate as being fantastic (with children too) who may travel over for you.
