My horse can get rather strong in the hand and is an expert at pulling the reins through your hands rather than working properly from behind if he can get away with it.He is currently ridden on the second hole of a 3 ring bit which does give me brakes but it was suggested to me by a well respected person that I try a kineton noseband to stop him from leaning on my hands so much.I know the kineton has to be used with a snaffle and I do have a french link lozenge bit which I use for schooling. The thing is I have no brakes whatsoever in this bit out hacking so would I be able to use the kineton with his 3 ring on the second hole or do you think this would be too much pressure applied to his nose.I gather that the french link would be ok to use with the noseband and I'm guessing that the action of the kineton would make the action of the bit more severe to begin with.I have never used a kineton before so would really appreciate some feedback on this and what you all think.

If done with a 3 ring gag you would have the aid of to different actions..... the pressure on poll from the gag and the pressure of the kineton on the nose...... i cant see why you cant do both if your horse is strong. Just make sure you have it correctly fitted.... should be able to fit 4 fingers under it horizonally. Ummm I'm personally thinking if i didnt have much control in the snaffle bit i would use it with the gag......
I use a kineton on my horse basically cos he will only go in snaffle bits but is extreamly strong out hunting etc... so i can only have him in the likes of a dr.bristol, waterford etc.... as he takes the bit down and away from you then i have nothing.
