Had my second jumping lesson today, and jumped my first double jump
I was terrified of going over and thinking I was going to fall, but I've done it,Im so glad hehe.
My instructor is really shocked, she was saying to the yard manager that it was only my second juimping lesson and I'm doing really well...:D
Anyone else on here started jumping?

I have had quite a few lessons but am still very nervous about it, although I enjoy it. My advice is to do it regularly so you become used to it - I keep saying I'll do that, then leave months between jumping and feel like I'm starting from scratch again
I'm doing my first jumping show on Sunday (already compete at dressage) which is only 1'6" and 2' and I'm really looking forward to it.
Keep up the good work!

I am having my second jumping lesson next week! I'm a complete beginner at jumping, which is stupid consering I've been riding for more than 10 years. But there you go. Never too old to learn, I suppose!
I had my first jumping lesson a few weeks ago, and it was more difficult then I thought. You come up to the jump, and before you know it, you're over it. I don't have any recollection of what happened going over the jump. Did my legs go back, did my hands go up, did I look down? I had no idea! I found it impossible to purposefully get myself in the correct jumping position, because it was all so quick. Anyway, hopefully this will come with practise.

I don't jump yet but I really want to have a go.
When is the right time to start having jumping lessons? Are you jumping as part of your regular lessons at your RS, or do you ask for specific jumping lessons?
Thanks,
CM

Im currently studying NVQ Level 1 in Horse Care at my local riding school,we're like a working pupil sort of thing, but we dont get paid for it,which is pretty crap.
We work Tuesdays to Fridays from 8.30am - 2.30pm,we do all the yard duties, then we have a lecture and we ride everyday,we're training for our BHS Stage 1 & 2 riding, that's why we're jumping at the moment.
How long you been riding for?
Ive only just started again in september last year, from complete beginner, now look at me 5 months later, jumping
Never thought I'd do it,but I'm really enjoying it,its great, love the lift off over the jumps

That sounds great Jools :) I know what you mean though, it is a shame you are not paid.
I had my first riding lesson almost a year ago but had a four month break in the middle of the year. I was working 120 miles away from where I was living - not good for fitting in the lessons:(
I have now moved and have been having 2 lessons per week since the new year. Im really enjoying it :D
Would love to learn to jump one day x
