Okay, so far this is my top choice for a full summer lease I'm planning on bringing to my barn. I have yet to try him, but I think that other than the wonkily-large hope halter sitting in the wrong place, he looks good to me, besides fuzz and that back hoof.

Anyway. He was a rescue horse when he was younger, and his owner suspects him to be a thoroughbred trakehner cross. He stands a good 16 hands, and obviously, he's got good bone, which makes me think maybe a pure warmblood or a thoroughbred crossed with a mixed draft horse?
I don't have much experience in deciphering the differences between specific warmblood types and crosses, so anybody who deals with them alot would be useful. My only doubt in that is, who would leave a warmblood, or even a warmblood mix to become a rescue horse?

Anyways, large picture.

Isn't that all that a warmblood is, is a draft mix? I think "true" warmbloods(meaning those that are a true breed, not just a draft cross, I know I'm not making much sense, just ignore me :D)are a smidge lighter boned, so I would bet he is a draft crossed with something.

Yes, the true warmbloods are just that- a balanced mixutre of hot and coldbloods, though obviously, the modern horses of today are more hotblood. I'm thinking draft cross too, but obviously less than half due to a lack of hair, especially as it's a winter picture and he's out year-round, if he had alot of draft I would expect to see alot more hair on the face, thicker mane and tail, and some sort of psuedo feathering. Which is why I still think he might actually some some sort of pedigree mixed in there.

No opinions as to breeding, but would just like to say one can't believe he used to be a resque case, he looks in such good shape. How long ago was that?

I would love to see what he looks like under all that fluff - please please post a pic soon as summer starts!

I definately will! I believe his owner said that he was rescued a a weanling/yearling, I'll have to double check when I'm not putting off homework and studying ^.^;
