Hi all, I just wanted to let out some excitement. I went for a short ride on Sunday, and I cantered. Not a big deal maybe, but I have this stupid fear of cantering in nice flat wide open spaces, I'm fine uphill, in a school or even on a horse that shoots off a few steps when it's spooked, but put me on a nice safe open track and my legs turn to jelly. As soon as the girl I was riding with said we'll have a nice little canter, that was it, tummy turning sommersaults, arrrghhh want to go home......slowly!!
Anyway, I said that was fine but asked if we could trot first, I'm always a lot better when I've trotted a bit and I know the horse is listening to me and not just trying to pull away. We did, then did little canter, then came back to trot rond the corners and then did a little canter, phew, it worked, he was strong and I felt like I was going a hundred miles an hour (but was proably really slow if you were watching from the ground) but it was okay, I didn't fall off, he didn't take off, wow, a few more nice experiences like that and I think my confidence will be okay.
That's all really, just such a good ride. Thanks for listening
