Hello ....

A quick question about lungeing .... I thought it was to help balance and seat without relying too much on reign and leg aids ... but my tutor during my first lunge lesson on my loan horse kept telling me to use my leg to push her out when she kept falling in .... she doesn't normally fall in on the circle during normal schooling, and if she does, she very quickly corrects with the right aids.

I should have asked my instructor at the time, but didn't want to appear to be questioning her tuition, as she is an excellent teacher and I trust her ... she also knows this horse very well.

Have I got this wrong .... and I still need to use the normal aids on the lunge, rather than leave it to the instructor?

Hope this makes sense ...

On the lunge you can work on your seat and balance but maybe your instructor wanted to get you to push your horse out at the same time. This is still using your seat and legs and building up to you can not be on the lunge. Did your instructor have a whip? Maybe she couldn't or the horse didn't respond. There could be many reasons.
Maybe you should ask next time
Hope I haven't confused everyone even more!
