Ow, another set of bruises to add to the collection. On a horse I'd ridden before, I probably should have expected trouble when after warming up at walk asked for trot and got canter:rolleyes: . Still I stuck at it for about 20 minutes doing walk - trot - halt, trotting circles etc. and we seemed to be going better as we went on.

All fell apart when I moved on to canter, first one was ok but when I asked a second time within 3 paces I knew I was in trouble. He went off about 50% faster than I wanted, not a mad dash but quick, and didn't want to slow as we went down the longside of the school. i tried to keep him on the track as we approached the corners but he cut in and as we exited he turned, made a 4 footed buck and then as he landed bounced his back legs up and dumped me spectacularly  but thankfully not too hard. Got back on and did a little more walk and trot (but no canter;) ) before finishing.

Not upset with myself as I don't think I could have done anything different or better at this time, so I guess I'll have to avoid this horse until I'm a better rider - I think I just got slightly overhorsed:(

If I carry on like this I'm going to have to fit a bath in the flat, showers just don't do it for the back ;)

Ouch is right! Rememer, ice for the first 48 hours, then heat. :) I'm not sure being a better rider would allow you to ride out a determined bucking fit. (Be interested in what others think.) Perhaps, with more experience, you would have sensed the bucks coming and changed what you were doing. :(

Not this time, been chucked off an appy before though and they do just stand there with and look down at you as though you're a complete idiot don't they?::)

Uhhh, not to put a damper on, but skip the whiskey if you take Tylenol- Acetaminophen + alcohol = liver damage. Pretty nasty combination;) Sorry, the MD in me just can't resist the caution...

Ouch! Glad you're okay. Sugar spooked at canter a few weeks ago and started bucking, so I feel your pain. Luckily I landed in some soft, springy grass.

Not one of those smirking appys?
Hey! I take offense at that! My appy was very concerned and non-smirky when I fell. Until she realized that she'd just reached an opportune moment to graze that is. :p
