Hi there
Im new to the forums so thought I should introduce myself.:)
I'm 35 yrs old and come from Glasgow in Scotland and returned to riding last year after a 10 year break. So far I'm doing ok and currently loaning a 15'3 grey mare who resides at out local stables. She is fantastic although a bit lazy sometimes but then so am I:D
Just started jumping lessons after spending the past 6 months introducing myself to flat work again and managed to do 2' jump at which point I did a spectacular flying act and landed on my backside, not bad for my first jumping lesson in god knows how long and my first fall in 15 years. Pulled a muscle in my lower back but its all good and Im back in the saddle tomorrow for some safe indoor schooling with her.
So, hello and Im looking forward to getting to know you all :)

Welcome to NR, this is an addictive site!!!!
I recently returned to riding after a loooong break, and as I am a true Yorkshire eccentric, have bought a 4 year old stallion for my daughter and I to share here in China. With a bit of luck, he will be gelded this monday, having flown the kit up from Hong Kong to do the 'Job'.
The advice you get on here is great, especially when like me you are a bit isolated from the horsey world.

Welcome Morganna.:D Hope you like it here. We'd love to see some photos of your mare if you have them. Sorry to hear about your fall. I hope your back is better soon.
I'm Caz by the way, late forties, the very lucky owner for the past two years, of an adorable 15hh bay welsh section d called Seneca.

Always happy to oblige with a pic. My fiancee took this on Tuesday, minutes before we took the 2' jump that caused my sore bottom. Unfortunately he cut my head out of the picture:rolleyes:

Welcome Morganna - and she's beautiful. I'm Ann, 48 in a couple of weeks (cries uncontrollably!!) and I have a 15hh Section D mare called Misty (pictured). You'll get lots of support and advice here. Glad your fall didn't put you off. Happy posting!!

Welcome to this great site. Your mare looks absolutely lovely. My mare is just a babe (rising 4) - an ISH and growing like a weed (as fast as I record her height, it's out of date)!

Hello Morganna,
your grey mare is lovely - can I ask what the bit under your name means?
By the way, I should start limiting your NR time now if I was you as otherwise you will end up mainlining it several times a day like me...

Thanks for the welcomes :)
Flump, I think Im hooked already, I have read loads of posts today all of them very informative and interesting. NR is now is in my favourites so there is no hope for me now :D
Heed the baw is a Scottish slang term for someone who is in charge of something - my fiancee thinks I am bossy so he calls me Heed the baw all the time :D

Hi there and welcome, that's it now, once you've posted you're sucked in! I only joined in September and look at me
Your mare is simply lovely, sorry about your bum though
You know the rules now, pics are always welcomed with open arms here, we love 'em :D
I love Scotland and Glasgow is the most wonderfully diverse city with such beautiful architecture :p We visit the Highlands and love to travel via Glasgow (cept we decided to go one Saturday afternoon when Celtic FC were playing at home last time - took a bit longer than usual to get in :p )

Hi, Morganna - has Bailey escaped on you yet:D
I take lessons on her and am constantly being told "remember to put the extra bar on the door and do all the locks". Better half was up one Sunday when she got out to the feed twice in one afternoon:D
She's a clever girl isn't she? And does love to jump though I think it'll be a while before I try 2'...

Hello and welcome Morganna... lovely mare you have there... but I'm a bit partial to grey mares myself of late:D (Just became the proud owner of one, having been looking for 'my' horse for ages, and saying 'got to be a gelding and anything but grey...'!)

Wooo - someone who knows her :D When do you get your lessons Vince? I normally hack her out on Tuesday and Thursday and take lessons on her Monday and Wednesday if I can manage both days.
No she hasn't escaped on me yet, I was well warned about that but she was a total nightmare to tack up at first, has nipped me on the bum when I bent over to get her girth, and stood on my toes on more than one occasion while I have been grooming her. The more I get to know her the more comical she gets
She does have a fantastic jump when she gets going. I'm so glad there is someone else here who knows her and has ridden her so we can compare notes and stuff :D
ETA: do I know your missus cause I know a girl who loans one of the horses up there and her husband has lessons on Bailey - are you the same guy? :D

No, we generally take lessons separately on Mondays, BH during day and me in the evening, and occasionally get together for a hack. Work does seem to get in the way of riding.
I only started riding age 35 and it's taken a while for me to get going, but I've learnt a lot recently especially since I started working more on her - my canters improving slowly and I've just started doing little jumps which always seems to brighten her up.
You're in safe hands there anyway:)
Nice to see you on the board and look forward to meeting you some time.

Aaah I thought you might be someone else for a minute there - looking through old posts I see you have also ridden MacGregor at the Scottish Equi Centre...so have I :D I go there once a month for a whole days riding and he was the first horse I rode there, absolutely wonderful boy, but they took me off him second time I went as they seemed to think he was too easy for me and they wanted me to work harder (buggers!) - he was the first horse I jumped over cross poles after 10 years away from riding, he is like a big comfy armchair and it was nice to see your picture of him.
Hope to bump into you sometime at the yard :)

Welcome. I love your ride. Very kind. My crew are on the bottom of this signature if you would like to have a look. I rode as a teen and owned a couple of ponies but boys came along and my parents sold tehm. When I hit 30 I got bored and booked a few riding lessons and I have been hooked since. I bought Captain about 20 months ago and love him to bits. We learn together. He has a few party tricks up his sleeve but everyone helps me on here and we just get on with things.

I love the Trossachs area, dont you miss it?
She's not mine, I loan her a few days a week but I love her to bits. She is kept on a yard in Cumbernauld which is really close to where I live so is really handy.
NoviceNic, your horses are lovely :)
