I'm an adult and I've had lessons with kids, they've been some of the best lessons I've had!

I can understand you wanting to move up, though, and at least this gives you a reason to work hard!

All you can do for now is to have your lessons, listen to what you're being taught, read books, watch videos and ask questions. Riding is something that you can't learn overnight, it's time in the saddle that counts. Try and make your lessons count, make sure that you're paying attention to the instructor. Even when she's not teaching you directly you can learn a lot from listening. When you're in a lesson have a check list for yourself, make sure that you're in the correct position, that you're not slumping, that your reins aren't too short or too long, try and feel what the horse is doing underneath you. Apart from taking lessons you can always get there early, stay late, or both and watch other people in lessons. You can learn a lot from watching other people ride, seeing their corrections and seeing other teachers teach.

It will all come together if you stick at it and don't worry about who else is in the class with you, as long as you're not being held back. Time in the saddle is time in the saddle, as long as you make the most of it you can only improve :)

Good luck

Hey :) Good for you that you want to learn and get on and ride better .

But being the oldest in a group of youngies and doing well is surely better than being the youngest in a group of oldies and finding it difficult and not enjoying your riding.

Think that as the oldest you should be setting an example to the younger ones of how to ride well then you will get better and they can learn from your position the main thing is to have fun and always be kind to your pony even if it is being naughty.:p

i dont know how your riding school works but when i was at a riding school i just asked if there was any sapce in a higher level group (just to see what it was like) and after when i said i loved it, and the instuctor of the higher group said i was good enough i was moved!!! try that, just ask if you could try out a higher level class and see what happens

Riding with kids totally depends on how they behave. If they are sensible and learning and listening then it can be really good. But I usually find that they are all just so self centred (yes I know that's a developmental thing)

pleeeeeaaase can I do thaaaaat...

theres something wrooong with this pony.....

whyyyy cant I do the same as sheeee can....

or crying

all accompannied by pushy parents!!

No thtank you. Stick with the adults.
