I've done it! I've booked a weekend away with Sennie for 16th -18th June.

From this website http://www.hhwtravel.co.uk/northdownsuk.php They originally said it was three days of riding over the North Downs covering 50 miles, with a 24 mile ride in the middle. So, thinking that middle day would be too much for Sennie and me, I decided not to go. Then I had a mail from Emma at the company saying they'd had several people who wanted to do a gentle version, was I interested. YES! I was...

This is the idea of the weekend. Fun and enjoyment is the philosophy of this ride, which will help build your and your horse’s confidence, introduce you to like-minded people and offer you a hassle free weekend.

Sounded good to me.

So the plan is to do three days of 12-15 miles each day. I foresee a very sore bum.:( :D but am alternately terrified and very very excited all in one.:D  :D I can only think it'll be a lovely way of spending real quality time with Sennie, but I foresee a big fittening campaign. Starting now.

I sent off the deposit this morning. I'd love some reassurance I'm not completely barmy. Oh god, I'm sooooooo excited.....:D

Oh Caz that looks fantastic, I'd love to go on something like that. Are you going alone or with another like minded horsey person? I'd be too fraidy cat to go alone but I'd just love it when Megan's settled, fitter and I'm (thinner) and fitter too.

How absolutely exciting :p I'm sure you must feel ambivalent about it as the prospect is a completely new experience, you'll LOVE it... lucky girl ;)

Yup. Just concerned I've bitten off more than I can chew. Ambivalent is the word! How absolutely exciting I'm sure you must feel ambivalent about it as the prospect is a completely new experience, you'll LOVE it... lucky girl Thanks Lynda. That's made me feel a whole load better.:)

I am going with three other people I've never met! HHWT have organised that part. I hope they're nice. I'm sure they will be. I'm working on the basis that anyone who wants a gentle ride over three days, in beautiful scenery with people with the same attitude as me.. as I've been told "Noone wants to go fast" must be OK. its just so much what I think horse ownership is all about. Doesn't make it any less scary though.

Any seat saver recommendations welcome. And I've decided not to try to lose too much weight. I think I'm going to need the bum padding.;)

It looks great! How lovely, a whole weekend of horsey time with like minded people and no interruptions from everyone else :D

You'll have a great time, I'm sure :)

If you were 12 years old, you'd never doubt that it would just be a fantastic dream ride without any probs. Find the child in you, Cazrider! It may not be far beneath the surface.....:D

It takes all my nerve just to put HQ's bridle on at the mo. I'm dead impressed that you are so advanced as to do this trip! I'm trying to put myself in the mindset of my long, long-ago riding days when I wasn't phazed by a thing, I just enjoyed every moment without fear, and did amazing things (I now realise!). It is beginning to work a little:)

Sounds like a fab hol; great that you found and organised what sounds like an ideal group to ride with:) :) :)

Thanks all.:)

LD, I think the child in me is all too near the surface at times.;) But looking on the bright side is something I'm usually good at. So, I'm sure it will be great.

MMIK, that was the intention.... horsey time.:D

Ross, hmmm. sheepskin seat saver. Good advice I will take.:)

I'll have to take my laptop and do a diary. Does that count as a blog? I'm not sure of the terminology.;) :)
