Oh dear oh dear, a winter off (since start of nov) has done my riding no favours at all! Went for a hack today, and after a moment of argy bargy at rising trot I exited side door left - from a 17.2hh t'bred! Ouch

Get back on (having located suitable ledge!) and start to walk back to stables, unfortunately the wind was up and there were binbags in hedge. He spooked again and I realised why I came off the first time - my instinct has somehow become to chuck my weight forward and my leg back - i.e. pretty much the opposite of what you might usually recommend! I ended up with one of my feet actually ON his bum, rest of me round his neck, pretty much lying along the top of the horse really, probably looked most amusing for the golfers that were standing around waiting for us to go by  Managed to get myself sorted without actually hitting the ground, only to repeat with another near miss 300 yards further along....

I think some lessons might be in order! Seems my mind still thinks it knows how to ride, but my body has forgotten :D :p

Anyone else starting up again after a 'winter break'?

aj xx

As I am finding practise is what is needed day in and day out.
Hope you are not too sore!!! But 17.2 is a long way down!!!

Cheers guys - bit stiff today but I've figured I can get about 20 hours of riding in before my april break so hoping it will all come back to me by then! aj xx
