As you probably know I'm usually the first to run a mile when a BIG horse does anything untowards  (call me a chicken, but I value my safety ... they're just too big for me!). I noticed today that I somehow manage to lead my friends horse (who is maybe 16hh or something) around without major panic attacks, managed to get another bigger pony (ok, he's 'only' around 14hh but still, big to me!) into the field safely despite the fact he headbutted me on the nose and was being a sh*t (note to self: don't offer to turn that one out again. I have now been informed he got into a little rearing habit when led ...). I know this may sound ridiculous to most of you fearless people but it's quite a big deal for scaredycat little me who is happiest with the under-13hh-s :D

Ooh congratulations notpoodle - big horses from the ground scare the pants off me! Will happily be tugged anywhere she chooses by 15hh Cherry but swap that for a 16hh skittish fine-breed and I am running in the opposite direction!!!! :D
However, if I was told to ride it.... wouldn't scare me a jot.... how strange am I????

Ah fantastic news Julia :) I know how you feel, my friend has a young and very bolshy 16hh heavyweight cob and I'm pretrified of him!:o

give me a pony any day.i dont care how often my 14.1 drags me about the place but made the mistake today of getting in the way of a 15.2 welsh d who was on a mission to bugger off from leader and rider...very bruised legs and torn ligaments to show for that one.
and some people say avoiding bigger horses is irrational???!!!

I'm scared of the big 'uns when I'm on the ground, too -- well who wouldn't be, when your head only comes up to the tops of their legs? I like a horse I can look in the eye -- and at, ahem, 5'2, that would generally be a pony...
