Some of you might have seen my earlier post saying that my new part-loan pony came in lame from the field earlier in the week. Well, she's still lame, so I spent both weekend mornings at the yard, grooming her, mucking her out, and peering at her lame foot. General consensus is that she's now just footsore and once she's had the farrier out and her shoe put back on (vet took it off) then she'll probably come sound again.

I had such a great time pottering about with her! She's a total sweetheart on the ground, which is a big change from the RS horses I've been riding. She likes a scritch behind her ear, and she didn't bat an eyelid at the high winds and resulting banging and crashing. We had a small disagreement about some minty treats that she could smell in my pocket, and I had to Speak Firmly, but she was fine about that. I love her! :D It was so exciting turning up today and going straight to her stable, and seeing her look up and recognise me and come for a pat.

I'm away next week, but hopefully by the time I get back she'll be sound and I can take her for a pootle about. I went for a wander up the road today on her owner's New Forest youngster, so at least I broke my riding duck.

And I must get a digital camera!

I'm glad she's feeling better and that you are enjoying her so much. It feels great when you build up a relationship with the horse you look after doesn't it?! Especially when it's not actually yours, it's nice to know that they appreciate you as well as their owner. There's nothing quite like spending quality time together!

Until you get hold of a digital camera, if you get your normal photos developed at Boots, you can have them put on a CD so you can put them on your computer.
