Madame is finally sound again (she'd splatted in the field we think and done her shoulder ... again, only it was the other one last year  ). She's not been ridden for almost a month, it was very windy on Saturday and I had a lesson booked. Recipe for disaster or what?
I didn't want to lunge her beforehand as she tends to see that as her 'work' and could possibly have downed tools in my lesson thinking that she'd done enough for the day! Tantrums on top of not being ridden and gusts of wind were NOT what I wanted.
Soooo, I bit the bullet and hoped for the best.
She was an absolute angel. For the first time she TRULY accepted the contact and I really felt what it was like to ride from "the inside leg to the outside rein". Although we've had flashes of inspiration before this was the first time that she actually settled for any length of time.
Despite the wind howling and almost blowing us backwards she didn't put a foot wrong. I was SO proud of her as was my trainer :D
I said to him that I'll have to kick her in the shoulder every couple of months if this is what it does for her!
Anyway ... now the brag!
My trainer has offered me a ride on one of his competition horses  I couldn't believe it, I was SO chuffed. This is a horse that he's been competing up to and including PSG :D I'm honoured, I'm flattered, I'm gobsmacked :D
