Ok so here is my report on my first hack in over 18 months

Sun still shinning when i arrived at the yard, i almost wet myself with excitement and nerves too as i drove up the what seemed like never ending track to the yard.

No one was around as it is lunchtime, i arrived half hour early, so i walked round the bottom yard and couldn't belive all the new horses didn't recognise any........ No sign of my favourite boy

Continued to wonder round to top yard, still no sign of my boy  went to the top field knowing it was tuesday and the boys turn out day, was he in the field no..........walked back dispondant but happy to be in the yard again and getting my newly cleaned boots all dirty LOL

Thought i would walk back to car as it was windy and so cold, walking back i heard him,i turned round and there he was poking his head out of a stable

WOW wee what excitement, went to say hello to my favourite boy and got the oh it is you look he didn't seem impressed i had not been to see him in ages and promtly continued munching away

My nerves were setting in now, needed to visit the ladies for the hundreth time, laughed at the loo's no paper and cold as hell LOL

Back to car- smoke about 200 hundred fags LOL..... oh activity on the yard so left the smoke infested car and took my stomach full of butterflies with me to office.

Horse had been tacked up, spoke to YO daughter who said do you want to get him out and mount ?? DO I ?? let me think about thatYESSSSSSSSSSS

Went to his stables, and bought him out, walked to mounting block not before he tried his luck on dragging me to water trough, his usual tactic to see if he can boss the rider about, not me pal he should know me better than that

No problems mounting he is a perfect gent ( just how i like my men and horses LOL ) he allows you to get on the block and he moves forward so you can mount Bless him eh

So all mounted, girth done, strirrups done, may be longer than i used to ride with, but comfortable.

YO daughter arrives all mounted on her own what looked like an olympic style horse, TB I would imagine, as it turned out it was just us two, and i already felt confident about the hack

So off we go, get to the first gate off the yard towards the woods, we chatting and i am begining to feel relaxed

she opens the gate we go through, as i was walking through into a field with about 10 horses all by the gate pushing my way forward all of a sudden i hear a commution behind me and horses legging it all over the place, felt my boy back end drop down, i sit deep fearing a bolting horse beneath me , because I sat deep with this he slowed and calmed down and i turned him to see YO daughter on the floor in the mud

Apprently her horse had touch the electric fence with its nose and completly spooked and of course horses being horses they all spooked and ran

Both rider and horse okay but we did the gate is not scary really look so we set off but her horse was shying away from the fences and anything that seemed like a horse eating blade of grass/monsters etc LOL

YO daughter said i did well to sit deep and halt my boy :D Both horses wanted to try their luck and i had to push my boy on a few times, and there was me thinking he is supposed to building my confidence

We had a glorious slow hack, we trotted for what seemed forever and i did manage to shout out, is someone building extentions to this slightly hilly bridal path as we never seemed to reach the top, it seemed to go on for ever.

Jesus i am so unfit i was all red cheeked and out of breath we slowed to a walk PHEW.... the rest of the time we chatted and enjoyed the walk in the woods wow wee i must admit i was anxious but it has been a while

Had a very good conversation about the horse i was riding and i expressed a great deal of interest when she said the 15"2 heavy boned coloured cob would be retiring may be in two years, she is going to keep me in mind for first refusal on buying him, even offered to help me too, riding etc YO daughter is great, the rest of the hack went by uneventful and absolutly brillaint anyway i was pre occupied with planning a savings scheme in my head to buy my boy

Back to yard and time to dismount and this is funny i plum forgot how to get off eventually i dismounted in some what an ungraceful slump LOL, oh my legs ached jelly in jodphurs LOL

I took him back, untacked him and groomed and rugged him up, had a cuddle too ask YO to check rugs etc were ok, she laughed and said your just as experienced as me, so s*d off LOL she said it was about time i had confidence in my abilities

loitering on the yard i said i was going and called to my boy who stuck his head out and as i walked towards him i said pucker up boy i want a kiss...... he promtly stuck his head right out, extended his lips, whinnied and gave me a big slobbery kiss :D :D

YO and daughter were laughing so much, they said he only does that to you She asked me to come back and work there again, but i said not just yet, but i have an open invitation to go and see him anytime and groom till my hearts content

So there is was my first hack in 18 months I have to say back is stiff and as for my legs they won't shut

I am going to ache so much but it was all worth it, I am in love and have big plans too, saving, more riding, lessons etc, right i am off to buy some grooming gear for my boy and a seat bone saver too, i may have a large butt but flipping heck how comes it is so boney :(

I want to say thank you for all the great support i have had recently and thanks for reading this very long post too LOL

Now where is my radox ??

I was very stiff last night and was dreading the discomfort i would be in this morning but i am surprisingly fairly ok, i did wonder if my back would be so painful as since the car accident even the weekly shopping causes me so much pain, but i am ok i can move :D

No i did not book a further hack/lessons as i was not sure what effect it would have on me, and anyway the Yard i ride knows me very well, been gong there for 5 years and worked there for two of those years, it was once my second home ;) and i usual call them on the off chance that my fav horse will be free.

I am still left pondering though to buy or not to buy but it has questions that need answering before i can make a decision:rolleyes: I have posted a thread about this and hoping that NR members will walk me through a few things, in the meantime i am planning on returning to the stables as often as possible to build myself back up :D
