It was a very cold lesson tonight, I think I can feel my toes again, but I'm not sure

Tonight we mainly worked on trotting, I was on Irish, who has a very good trot.

We started off doing leg yealds in rising trot which Irish was a star at :)

Then the main aim of the lesson was to work towards being able to change between collected trot, working trot and extended trot, preferably with out changing speed.

I think I did well, by counting the number of times I sat going down the side of the menage I got 8 times for extended, 10 times for working and 14 times for collected, so for a first try I was very pleased with that.

But I did speed up with the extended trot and slow down with the collected trot, so someting to work on there for next time.

But it was a very interesting lesson, but very cold

Aww....gets quite boring when you do the same things over and over again in rows! But different lessons are fun!:) I enjoy horse riding I really do!:D ;)
And about the cold toes...your not the only one......sometimes hurts when dismounting right?:( I don't like dismounting anymore since the body protector came along...it gets in the way and stuff....and....I nearly fall...:p  ;)

Hi! I had my second lesson today; main focus - riding on the correct diagonal... All I can say - I will need lots of practice! My daughter kept pointing out that I was on the wrong diagonal (show-off!), and the horse was so-o difficult to get going!
I am sure next week will be better (hopefully!)

I took me ages to figure out the correct diagonal, it turned in to a bit of a running joke with my RI, for a while I always got it wrong, but since I moved up a grade it just seems to work, I think I've figured out how it feels, so i don't need to keep looking at where the outside leg is.

Having a horse that is dificult to get going can be very frustrating and doesn't help you think about other stuff, but it sounds like you are progressing well if that was your second lesson :) Do you share a lesson with your daughter?

I have been told to look for the "buldging" shoulder to get the correct diagonal, as I could not see the horse's leg. It did help (a bit!)

My daughter is having group lessons, as she has been riding just over 6 months, I am only a beginner :), so we do not share lessons (as yet!)
