Okay, so Cherry and I were the only two in the "quiet" school tonight at dusk... we have another floodlit school - the "jumping" one and all the kids were careering around on their mad ponies so we went "quiet" We'd had a lovely schooling(ish) session on Monday evening for half an hour so I decided to try more of the same.....
.... only I went a bit far and decided it was high time that I should "school" myself and decided to ride for a bit without stirrups!!! No - I didn't come off on this occasion but I am starting to feel a bit sore "down there" - you know the place, tops of the insides of the legs...;)
We even managed a canter and I only had the one panic attack slowing down through that fast trot bit :p
What WAS I thinking??? Remind me not to do THAT again.... :D
(repeat... I AM a "happy hacker"... I AM a "happy hacker"....)

I remember, a number of years ago now, having a 40minute non stirrup lesson on the bounciest horse on the yard. Wow, i couldn't walk properly for three weeks. Walking downstairs was torture, i remember it so well i never want to experience such uncomfortability again. :D :D

Well Done :)
I expect you were thinking that this was going to help deepen your seat, and give you more confidence in any situation - and you'd have been right! Just think how much better you'll feel if you ever lose a stirrup again...

Well done! Personally I think that what you were doing will only help you in your 'happy hacker' status... nice deep seat definitely helps when sitting the odd spook or sharp spin away from a horse eating dustbin!
Maybe a slightly shorter session next time though, if only for the sake of 'those bits'!!:D

No you werent stupid at all. You really did well getting on and riding all by yourself. As for the sore bits. We've all been there hun. A nice warm bath might help...;)

..... initial soreness/stiffness has subsided following last night's bath and all back to normal tonight. Didn't ride as I didn't want to push it and Cherry had been in the horsewalker today anyway.
She has a small cut above her eye *CALL THE PARAMEDICS* my baby is injured!!! Goodness knows what she has been up to but it looks fine so I left well alone.
AND there's more....tonight there was a horse in a stable along the barn having her teeth done by the same EDT (Stuart Philpott) that I missed out on meeting last month when he did Cherry's so I asked if I could watch Lucy being "done" instead - fascinating stuff and I don't feel so bad that I missed out with Chez now..... :D

Consider the Paramedics on the way. How dare they hurt your baby!!! I have been told by an EDT that Captain has still got his wolf teeth and that the dentist will just flick it out the next time he is up.

Oooh, poor you, nothing worse than a mardy *moo* after riding is there
Glad you're feeling better though and that Chez's cut is a small one. I'd have found it hard to leave alone, I'm a panicker I'm afraid and would probably have dobbed Vasaline on it just to make 'me' feel better  :p

I am so proud of my self-control Imp! But then I never fussed my kids' minor prangs when they were little (maternal instinct tells you when it's really serious ;) ) - I give Mother Nature a chance before I jump in!!
However, I DID compromise by giving her a new Likit - Cherry flavoured, naturally and she was tucking into that VERY happily as I left!!! :D

Hope the cut's better domane. I'm a bit like you imp. Quite happy to work on gut instinct with my kids, but if anything happens to Sennie, I'm a nervous wreck. I bought some Dermagel http://www.natural-animal-health.co.uk/derma_gel.htm which I recommend to everyone. If he has a cut I'd clean it and dob a bit of this on. It really does help heal wounds quickly. The only trouble is, everyone on the yard borrows it!
BTW, glad to hear you aren't so sore now domane. That'll teach you...:p ;)
