Wow how much fun are they!!! :D

Even riding Kappa 'I'll stop whenever I like' today, I still managed to get her to do as I asked.. even keeping trot all the way around the menage.

Had a fantastic lesson trotting poles for the first time, and my RI was really pleased as I 'got it' we were going over them in rising trot ( I know sometimes it's in jumping position), felt funny the first time as the horse elevated and she bumped up when I didn't expect it, but once I knew what to expect it was great. :)

Can't believe how quickly the 30 minutes went! :(

But all in all RI was pleased and I was on cloud 9!

OMG  JUMPING!!!
hehe seriously dreading that! hehe but I know it'll likely come.

Must admit the first time over the poles I half expected kappa to refuse, as at my old RS the horse refused time and time and again.. even with teh RI on him he still refused.

And once we were over, I was able to breath again! hehe you kinda think the horse will trip and fall or something. :o

I don't know if jumping feels like the 'elevation' part of trotting over poles, suppose it feels a bit different.

Was a good experience anyhow. :)

Ang - Erin is riding on Saturday, first since fall, and a new pony to ride too. Will be interesting to see how she is. Fingers x'd she gets on well, as she's had the plodding types till now. ;)

can't wait for my next lesson!!! :D :D

Sounds like your lessons are going well :)

It is interesting how different horses approach trotting poles, at the end of my last lesson my RI wanted me to canter over 4 trotting poles, but Irish decided that we should trot over them because they are trotting poles, so we would canter up to them, trot over them and then canter off again

Chattie (a 13hh grey) was in the same lesson and she insisted ton jumping the trotting poles - much to her riders shock

I hope Erin is OK in her next lesson.

Oh my.. I can imagine the shock if your horse jumped when you were expecting a trot or even canter! :p

Thanks, fingers x'd Erin is ok, she seems un-phased by it now... time will tell. ;)

Wow ! well done :D

I must admit the whole.. leave the track part was something I though Kappa would struggle with, but she was sooo much more attentive today. Maybe she's just miserable plodding round in a circle! :p

I did a kind of track - round the post of a jump - back to track, then round to the poles and then into the track again walk, change rein in trot then repeat it.

Must admit at the end of the final loop kappa did a kind of 'horse' excuse the pun cough.. and a huge intake of breath then let it all out.. think she was really working! :D

I chuckled and patted her loads, and she knew there was a polo with her name on it, as I gave her one before the lesson! ;)

I am still totally buzzing after todays lesson. I really had been feeling like i was treading water for a while and Kappa was a bit awkward a couple of weeks and then I lost my nerve a bit with Bertie last week.

Not sure if i'm riding kappa or Bertie next week, but i'm ready! :p Just wish I had the cash for another lesson.
