hi im new to here!i've been looking through some of your posts and wondered if you could give me some advice?i have a dartmoor hill pony on loan. he is a12.3hh woolly native who's almost 5. i helped break him in this time last year and we've taken it slowly so far. cantered him over a jump for the first time last week!!!now heres the tricky bit. im 16 and weigh getting on for 8 stone. ive asked a few people and they all say he could carry someone heavier than me but im still not convinced!i dont know whether age makes a difference to what he can carry?i may be being a bit paranoid here but he does seem to be getting withers now-he had absolutely no withers when he was younger-is this natural when horses start to be ridden. he doesn't display any obvious probelms with me being on him, except that sometimes he's a bit lazy. also, is a treeless saddle better for his back?

Hi sorry I dont have any experience with breaking or Dartmoor ponies so cant answer your question. Just wanted to welcome you to New Rider though. And before Imp or Domane get in first:p . It is compulsory for you to post photo's of your horse...:D

He can carry your weight with ease, as long as you feel he is comfortable and your geet aren't dragging on the floor you will be OK:)

upload your pics to a 'photobucket' account.. and they'll resize them for you... also give you link codes for thumbnails etc.
