Can any one help. My horse keeps going disunited in canter - always on the left rein he seems fine on the right. Just wondered if anyone knew why this is. He also shakes his head when going into canter as if he wants more rein. Could the contact be too strong and would this make him disunite. Doe sanyone know why he would only do it on one rein. thanks.

How old? What breed? Any more info about him?

As Wally says, we need more info before we can comment fully.
The one thing I would mention at this point though is that with one of my horses, going disunited in canter was the first sign of a back problem.

He's a 16hh 3/4 TB 1/4 polo pony? He has been used as a polo pony up until I bought him in June. He will be 10 this year. He passed a 5 stage vetting when I bought him but has always gone disunited behind on the left rein. I am thinking of getting his back checked next mth when the back person is due at the yard.

does he pace? get your walk and trot collected, get on the correct bend, you too (even exagerate onto a revers) and ask. get your lower paces sorted before upping. if you've alrrady got them. do from walk to canter ) it's usuallly easier for horses).
also does he stike off correctly on hacks?
also lunge off voice and transfer to ridden.
? where is your weight?
