I posted on the other thread - but at the risk of repeating myself - I think I am in love!
He has been a little black hairy angel, groomed him and picked out his feet, walked round the yard and settled to eat his hay. So kind and sweet, like a big labrador really.
Here he is warm and cosy in my stable. More news later as have to go back and check on him.:)

Point of interest.... I know you are worried about his size and your weight and I noticed an article about cobs in the new Horse & Rider mag. I know Jester is NOT a cob however it mentions weight-carrying capacity as this:

- With a minimum of 8.5" of bone (circumference below the knee) - up to 14 stone
- 9"+ = 14 stone+

As a "native" I would think similar rules would apply to Jester..... within reason :D I mean, I'm not suggesting that if his measurement is 9.25" say, that three people leap on him and go for a 3-hour hack, let's be sensible :p

Anyway, I just hope that this helps you as I know you initially expressed concern?

You sound so different in your posts this time round.... TF WAS gorgeous but you knew he wasn't "right" for you whereas you seem to have clicked with Jester instantly...

Phew! Just back from seeing him again, gave him another groom and some trebor mints (shh, don't tell) and he is truly lovely. If he is as good to hack out as I think he will be we are a match made in heaven. Will be introducing him to the girls (Pom, Spritzer and Lottie) tomorrow so fingers crossed for that. Then plan to have a little tiny hack on Tuesday.
Weight wise I am feeling a bit better. He really is like a mini draft horse - will measure his legs tomorow but they are HUGE and he has a very chunky bum and shoulders with a very close coupled back that didn't really show on his photo from the trial day.
Trying a few different saddles as the transport people forgot his tack - luckily 2 of the girls are XXL (my favourite size!) so their saddles seem to fit him pretty well.
Interestingly although he has a very ponyish face he is in a full size headcollar - he is quite decptive size wise.
He is an absolute love and I am even looking forward to getting up at the crack of dawn tomorrow to see him again.
Have to be careful the cats don't get fed up though as they have been complaining that they are well behind with their cuddle quota as I've been out so much today. Have offered extra chicken as compensation though and they seem willing to negotiate.:) :) :) :) :)

Flump '67 he's lovely. Have you ridden him yet? Falcon is all black. Have some fun and enjoy him. Do you have somewhere decent to ride? Falcon's kept on a farm/livery yard but there's not a lot of land to ride round. He's not good in traffic tho.

Just nipped home again from the yard for a quick cat check!
Yes, AFellPony, we have lovely hacking with the gorgeous New Forest all around us and no roadwork at all.Very lucky.
Jester is out with the girls but a certain SecD is being a bit of a bully:( poor Jester. I just want to go and get him back in again and cuddle him but I know they have to sort out their pecking order. Seems like Jester will be bottom of the heap in a big way. He is a very submissive character - Spritzy likens him to Eeyore, bless his little hooves.
By the way must just say that Spritzy is an absolute star and helps me every step of the way.:)
Right, back up there again now to see my little furry sweetheart. Going to have a tiny sit on him just in the yard later this afternoon and then may lead him down the track to pick at some grass.
OH is still up there now making me a lovely sturdy mounting block from sleepers so have to stop off en route for some munchies to keep him going.
May have mounted photo for later if I am not looking too fat, if am will airbrush it a la top models...

There is something about Jester that makes me feel he may be the one for Flump. He just looks more genuine and honest does that sound silly..:o Actually reminds me of my Captain. Which is kind or weird actually. Maybe it is his eyes. Oh and I blame all my padding. It makes me look too big on Captain. But I would prefer to be well padded than look better. ;)

Another very quick note as once again dashing back to the yard. Didn't end up on him last night due to mega integration problems. Today we have made a seperate turnout paddock for him as he was really badly picked on yesterday, poor boy.
We are taking him out for grazing walks with the chief culprit to try and improve things.
Interestingly he LOVES his stable (we were worried as he hadn't been in at night before) and now tell me he is in fact a special type of TBish fell who should really live in and only go in the field on nice sunny days:p
Meausured his legs and he has 10 and a half inches of bone - which is more than my big cob TF had. He is like a compact russian weight lifter!
If this awful rain eases off will try riding tonight so maybe more news later!
