Splint boots and bell boots???

Are splint boots and bell boots really important to use when schooling? Just wondering why some people use them and some don't. Also, what brand is is the best to use that are not too expensive.

Depends on what you are doing - but also on the horse.

I used splint (or at least wraps) and over-reach boots on my Bud even for regular schooling, because he had bar shoes in front and tended to interfere behind.

If a horse doesn't have a particular reason for needing special boots, I won't use them, unless engaging in an activity where special protection is needed.
