which suncream is best?

I have tried doing a search before I posted, Bex has a white nose, and I just wondered if anyone could recommend a type of suncream to put on him, when he came to me last year it had been burnt before I got him and I dont want this to happen again, thanks

My horse has a pink nose as well, used childrens sun cream on it and a Shires full face fly mask which covers his nose as well. He doesn't like the mask too much but last year he really didn't get too burnt at all.

Found that the children's cream tends to be nice and moisturising as well so stops his nose getting flakey and such like.

I just used Boots kiddie stuff last year, but remember seeing on here that most horses are more tolerant of special horse ones :D I also have a full face mask, which Bo HATES :(

well I thought it may be cheaper if I stocked up now, :D

Dargi has a pink nose that gets burnt really easiyl and I use a product called Filtabac which is a mixture of zinc with anitbacterial cream it works really well.And if I don't have any of that I just use zinc which also works well.

yeh jack has a pink nose but weneva i put cream on he seems 2 get it off almost straight away! lol anyway, i use anything for babies/kids with a high factor n nothing unusual in it

sudocrem is good, but you need a thick layer to physically block the sun. It is very water resistant so will stand up to horses drinking and grazing damp grass.

E45 50 factor - I have tried loads and I think that this is the best. You may have to order it from the chemist, it is about £12, strange you have to order it when everyone wants us all to cover up from the sun;)

Full face fly mask, Shires and in during the day to avoid as much sun as possible:D

Just looked at Boots, theirs is £10.49, but it is out of stock!

I use the childrens no-ad stuff from asda, its great in a squirty bottle for about £3/£4 at the most.

If I was a horse owner I'd probably use a high factor sun cream/lotion.:)

Remember folks. Suncream only lasts up to 6 months after its made etc. So throw away last years and check dates when you buy new cream!!!!

I use the kids hypo alergenic stuff but in the end last year I got more use out of a sun-filter thingy to attach to a breakaway head collar.

The problem with the sun cream is that my cob washes it all off in the water butt as soon as I put it on him :eek:

Last year when I put sun cream on my pony he rubbed if off as soon as he could - this year I am looking for something that doesn't smell badly. A shires face mask helped on my horse, but the pony will rip any flymask within a few hours.
