Feel like this something I ought to know, having been around horses for 18 years, but have heard them mentioned and realised I have no idea what they are!
Anyone feel like filling a dumb blonde in?

I used to look after a horse that had a very bad case of them.
They are non-spreading skin tumours bascially. thought to be caused by a virus of some sort. they look like large growth type warts. thre are different kinds though and occur in differnet areas of the body and are different in description.
They can be burnt/frozen off with success however the horse i knew they kept coming back even when this was done and they were between his back legs :( such a shame
His used to bleed and open up a lot, i think this may be due to the location of them. His treatment was unsuccesful as his were the kind that spread along the lymphatic channel. :(
I probably wouldnt have known about them unless i had experience of them myself so dont worry.

Thanks guys. In that case I might have seen some, is it necessary to get them removed or can you just leave them if they don't spread?

i think if depending on where they are you dont need to remove them. But maybe get them checked out to see what kind they are.
It doesnt effect them again depending on where they are locoated.
