I really should know about worms but I must confess I'm ashamed to say I know nothing.

My share horse gets wormed by his owner and I know you have to do it regularly but that's about all I know.

I imagined they were little microscopic things, but having seen the giant worm picture I started thinking too.

How do horses get worms. I know that they can get it from pasture that's not regularly "poo picked", but do they eat the worms? eat eggs on the grass?

Do all horses have some worms all of the time?

Would all horses get ill if they weren't wormed?

There's probably about 100 other questions that I'd like to know the answer to.

Any basic information gratefully recieved :D

Thanks
Sarah

Why not do some reading Sarah? Many people are like you and don't really take in all the info about worms so don't worry.

The main worms to affect horses are redworm (large and small), roundworm and tapeworm. They get them from worm eggs passed onto the pasture in a continuing cycle of development.

Horses can get very ill indeed and even die from worm burdens, but only if not correctly managed.

Start with my website and perhaps follow some of the links for more info.
