Please can somebody advise me on the following :
1. Is a TB x ID also known as an Irish Sports Horse ?
2. Is there a specific breed society that can issue passports for this breed ?
Thanks
Debbie

Yes, an IDxTB is also known as an ISH or a RISH(registered irish sport horse)
They can be registered with any passport authority but the Irish one is the IHB. Irish Horse Board.

Have you got an ISH, Debbie? Or are you thinking of getting one?
They're great horses, mine is a RISH and I love her to bits. She's substantial without being chunky and has nice paces so suits me just fine :) I used to be a WB freak but since getting her I've been converted :) I still love WB's and TB's but would definitely consider another ISH although my NEXT horse (as a friend for her) is going to be a Luso :)
Mine's passported through the IHB. It's more expensive than some but she's registered so I may as well keep her registered ... you never know when it will come in handy (probably never).

I love the look of ISH's.
Aren't they basically the true definition of warmblood? Real warmbloods tend to be a bit overly refined for my tastes these days- they used to have a bit thicker bone if you look at the older more classical horses. A bit too much TB blood down the lines.
Denser warmbloods look best to me- strong, but not slow.

Hi Saffy Moo Cow
Yes I am getting my first ISH on Friday. I have always wanted a TB x ID but wasn't aware until recently that they are now known as ISH. I think they are lovely horses and the best of both parents.
Tyler is being vetted today so keep your fingers crossed for us.

My mare Pee Wee is a RISH, she has alot of TB in her, but an ISH dosent have to be TB x ID if you look through alot of the registered ones.
Good luck with Tyler :)

Hi Debbie :)
An R/IDSH is a Registered/Irish Draught Sports Horse, and must have at least 1/8 registered Irish Draught blood and is usually crossed with a TB
An ISH/RISH may be IDxTB, however may also may be a cross with another Irish breed, such as a Connemara.
Good luck with Tyler today :D

An ISH/RISH may be IDxTB, however may also may be a cross with another Irish breed, such as a Connemara.
Not common though, maybe in other countries but not here, sometimes Irishbred horses used to be passported as ISH when their breeding was unknown but it doesn't really happen anymore.
If an IDxTB was bred to a connie, the result may be passported as an ISH but TBxConnie are generally not passported as ISH.
Good Luck :)

Good luck with the vetting :)
Hope everything is ok and you'll have a new addition come Friday :)
We need to know more, though. Colour, height, inside leg measurements ;)
If you have any info on the dam and sire you can look up their family tree on allbreedpedigree (http://www.allbreedpedigree.com) (think that's it). I've traced Saff back to the foundation sires of the TB breed, Darley Arabian and a barb :) It's addictive though so make sure that you've got plenty of time. You can even get photos and PAINTINGS and bits of info for some of the horses :)
