There is the big estate (12000 acres) - Nicholsons. they have 3 DIY yards and 1 full livery. There are others around to. No doubt other NR members will post about them. Welcome to the area :)

Is holmside the one which is being renovated. I want to move my horse due to some issues but son doesn't because he says he will have noone to ride with if we move I am trying to convince him that he will make mates. ( teenagers who would have them.

At lumley riding farm( think that is what it is called it isnt a livery just a farm. The owners are lovely I have some issues about some other things ( people) that makes me want to move him
Am supposed to be looking at redrose tomorrow it sounds lovely but is expensive as it is full livery and really wanted to do it mostly between me and daniel ( son) as i want him to get the experience of looking after him not just riding him

Leamside Equestrian is where I am, its lovely but only full livery. I think there is a little DIY place up the road though.

If you want some teenagers Union Hall usually has a wide age range. They do full, DIY and I think, part. they also have very good facilities.

There is a yard just up the road from you in Pelton where I am. On the way up there is one on the corner of South Pelaw by the bridge (not sure if he still does DIY or just if he runs it privately), Robert Ryles by the Plough. Pelton House Farm (neil elliot he is really nice have to say that as its where I am :D No really he is very good livery. Good price too)

I've also Pm'd you

Sorry to hijack thread :)

Pelton House Farm? My Aunt lives in Pelton House Farm Estate, are your horses in the big field at the back of the row of houses? I was petting them over the back fence at Xmas, as I was having horsey withdrawl symptoms! Was away from my horse for Xmas and enjoyed a bit of horsey company!

Petted a lovely grey gelding, he was really friendly, he then went off for good gallop in the snow with a couple of coloured cobs :D

Miriam
23rd Mar 2006, 09:36 PM
popdog yes they are. There is a grey dapple mare 14hh thats Rhi in the big field, the bay with a white star and leg, and little white on tip of nose is Peter. Gelding could be Zeb if it was appro 13.2-14hh or if he was just a little dartmoor it would be Geaorge. Have you seen the grey mare 16hh she is due in April. Always one of the side paddocks. You will have met the little shetties too. The two who were mainly in the side paddocks were Kit and sweep, then there was Barney and apple

If it was Zeb dont let him fool you. He chased me once cause he did not want to be caught :D Coloureds are Bob and the other one has slipped my mind. Thats the prob trying to remember 35 horse names :p

Next time your up this way let me know. You can pop round and have a play

popdog
23rd Mar 2006, 10:06 PM
Oooooh so excited, I almost met NR horses without even knowing it. Def reckon it could be Zeb, my dad says he's naughty and won't be caught, have seen a couple of shetties in their too, they all seem happy, even in heavy snow.

Auntie Betty reckons the horses are always begging over the back fence, told her not to feed them as owners might not be happy with nippy horses, too many carrots etc, etc...

She sold her house last week (by word of mouth to a childhood friend of mine), if I'd still been living up north I would have snapped it up just for the view. I was born and raised in Chester, still miss it a lot ;) Horsies look very happy in that big field :D

Will Pm you next time I'm up there, could do with a bit of horse sanity, especially when stuck with the non-horsey relatives :D

Miriam
25th Mar 2006, 10:12 AM
Could be Zeb but are you sure its a gelding. Rhi likes to play games with you.

In the summer she will not let you catch her until you have played catchy with her. Then she will come. Or if the grass is really good she will lead you into a false sense of security and let you lead her so far and then take off. If its a kid chasing the horse round its Zeb. if its an adult in a blue coat chasing horse around its me with Rhi :D

In the summer she is usually the grey in the paddock with the shetties. She has a few dapples still and last year wore a blue fly sheet. Other years a white one :D

If you remember her then you will have met an NR horse :D

Dont mind people feeding them too much so long as they are careful and dont give grass clippings

popdog...... where you from...... i too, alas, am living in london:rolleyes: ...... and travel up to pelton to see my little pony chops when i get a chance :D it's usually me being dragged by her by some coincidence:o

popdog
25th Mar 2006, 07:12 PM
Miriam: My dad said it was a girl trying to catch the grey horse, but anyone under 40 is a girl to my dad. He said that the girl gave up in the end, and caught a bay horse instead.

April: I was born in Durham and lived in Chester-le-Street & Birtley for 20+ years, most of my family are in Pelton and Waldrige. I've been in London for 8 years now and only get back up there about four times a year. I really miss it, I still have my geordie accent though :D

Miriam

Nope right uptill 2yrs ago Jake was a driivng horse just down the road from me. Don't think he has ever been to burnopefield. He is a Black and White with heavy feathers

Maybe controversial but why isn't this on the pm system???

I see a whole lot of posts marked Chester le Street.... no problem with that but surely its a private messaging thing?

I guess its something to do with chatty friendly people in Chester le Street and the North East.

There are also threads on here which mention:
somerset
wiltshire
kent
notts
brentwood
exmoor
wellow park
etc
etc
in the title.

and loads from Sheffield and South Yorkshire. All are welcome to me: I always read the NE ones and then sometimes the others. I don't see any reason to find them objectionable.

Is there a problem with people finding others in their locality on this site, and advising each other. I think this is one of the strengths of the site and presumed that people who had no interest in Chester le Street just would not read the thread....

april
17th Apr 2006, 01:55 PM
actually there are only two or three threads... and if you check they are all "on topic" there is no "cackageing" that seriously goes off the rails.

these people have all just discovered that they live in the same area..... and some of them have moved onto the same yard.....

wouldn't you want people to know that practically half your yard is on this website??? and if half your yard were on the same website wouldn't you be chatting with them the same?????
you chat more to people you know... thats human nature, and thats all these people are doing

Skye08
17th Apr 2006, 05:17 PM
thanks iz :D I talk on here as iz has just said because i like to know more about the people who are on my yard. And i like talking to them on here on a night time because then i know what they are doing the next day and when they will be up lol. But i dp PM them for that. Some times it is just nice sharing news with them on here but with the rest of you aswell!

Miriam
17th Apr 2006, 06:39 PM
Yep I'll grant you that. Both laura and Annabelle, Dan all Pm me too

As Iz says we have suddenly come out of the woodwork. It'll die down soon. Laura is right too just because she is on the same yard as a few of us there is no reason why she cant share her news with others and no reason why we cant answer her

In the short space of time that Shada has been on my yard I have seen him come on in leaps and bounds. He had not driven for over 6yrs till the other day. Now he is on the roads for the first time.

Same with Bruno and Dan
