Hi
I have a 10 month old coloured colt registered with CHAPS. ID dam and Tobiano Oldenburg sire. I'm looking to show him in hand this year - but not quite sure what we need. What would be the usual outfit I would be expected to wear. For him I assume he is shown in an in hand bridle complete with bit. What about mane - does this need to be plated? etc
Thanks Emma.

With his breeding he might look flashy plaited. Got any pics?

For inhand classes you're expect to wear
Hat - either trilby, beagler (dressage cap) or a riding hat
Tweed jacket OR a waistcoat that complements you and your horse, waistcoat is better if you wont need a tweed for ridden classes as it's cheaper, but if you're doing the big shows tweed looks smarter
Non-white shirt and a discreetly patterned tie
Brown leather gloves, and either carry a cane, a schooling whip or a cob/inhand whip
Then trousers - dark (ie navy/green) for light legs, light (ie beige) for dark legs
And suitable but smart footwear. I did wear Harry Hall Recife Jod boots, but needed some walking boots for DofE so I will be using those for inhand showing as they're brown, and comfy.
I think that because he's less than 2 you can use a halter, best to check with CHAPS on that. They tend to plait yearlings, but I think the tails are often left unpulled, or they use a thinning comb to make them look pulled. :)
