Is it worth the £30+ entry fees for me and Daffy?
It would only be one day (weds) and maybe 2 classes (haven't got a schedule yet) as I don't think there are any riddens on the Thursday, and it's local enough that I wouldn't have to pay for stabling or hire a horse transporter, we can use the trailer.
Do you think we'll look out of place in the ridden (open and maybe novice) M&M classes? I don't want to be "the-girl-who-should've-stuck-at-local-level" in front of that many people. :o

I read your recent posts about you considering moving to county level and although im definitely no showing expert, I really think you should go for it. Im sure you wont be looked down on, the pics I have seen look great too. If you dont do it this year, when will you? ;)

depends on how well youve got daffy going? If he is working consistantly in his outline (seem to remember you had a probloem at one point is it sorted?) will he be fit and will he cope mentaly if so then go for it!

He will be fit and I expect/hope the outline will be consistant - hoping to start lessons next week. :D
I can forsee one problem though. I have my Duke of Edinburgh Gold expedition the week before, Monday-Friday. Got back yesterday from a 4 day one, and my legs have spent the day refusing to play with me. I'm definately going to have to get fitter for the next one so I can ride on the Sunday assuming I stick with it, although after the weekend (and trauma) I've just been through to qualify, I don't think I'd pull out for anything! I think I could find somebody to ride him whilst I'm away, or even if he was rested he would be unlikely to be fussed.
I reckon he'll cope mentally, even 3 large scoops of oats once a day last summer did nothing to fizz him up - trying competition mix in a fortnight. I'd have to take him for a walk so he could see everything because otherwise he'll take me for a walk to see everything, but I can't see there being a problem in that respect. My mental state on the other hand.. well that's open to debate. :p

He hasn't been schooled since November, and I can tell I've slipped into a few bad practises. Stirrupless work for the next few weeks I think, and lots of balancing for him to try and get that outline in canter. He's still coming into one in walk/trot out hacking, I just need to learn to keep it. Have only had one lesson working on achieving an outline anyway, so I guess I'm not too bad.
I'm not expecting to get placed in a million years, I just don't want to be obviously out of our league. I know we'll look ok turnout wise, its a case of what happens when we move. I suppose it's that I don't want to let him down either.

Daffy looks lovely in those videos, but you'll definately have to work on your riding/schooling before GYS if you want to 'blend in'. He's up to standard in turn out and conformation but needs to be more consistent in his head in trot and working through the back/on the bit in canter - this is bound to improve as you get practicing and have some lessons getting your position more secure etc (and build those muscles up!!). You've got plenty of time before GYS to get it together, and if you get the experience this year you can go all out to get placed at next year's show ;)

Cheers! :)
I knew I'd have a lot to work on but schooling and lessons are the cheap bit so at least the expensive stuff is out of the way. ;)

daffy you aren't the only one who is considering something big, I am entering the Northern group AHS show on 17th and 18th June at wetherby racecourse, and I am terrified!!!!!

I'm not scared yet - too many other things to be worried about!
I dunno if Daffy will have full feather by then, but I think they can look past that, and given how "accomplished" we are, this is just a practise run anyway. ;)

Well I wont be going afterall. :(
With Daffy's legs being messed up he's having to stay on box rest and I don't want to ride him as it'll stretch the sore skin. I'm expecting him to stay on box rest for the rest of the month, so he's going to come out severely unfit. This means I'll miss the May shows, exams in June mean I'll miss the show then and wont have time to really fitten him up anyway, and so even if I was willing to make GYS our first of the season, we wouldn't be nearly ready.
Bummer :(
