I just want to share our escapades today.
Thanks Ponyvet for your advice and I hope your weanling is going on OK! He or she?
Today we started the weaning process and rode the mother in the menage for thirty minutes at walk.
Taz was quite happy to being ridden but lookd rather confused when foal suckled with a rider on board! Mind that is nothing compared to foal's expression when husband jumped into the saddle!

We put mum and foal in separate stables after this (as foal has never been stabled getting her in it was a hoot! We kept them apart for an hour and neither bothered at all! They ate their feeds quite happily. This made me much less worried about the process and I might get a good night's sleep!
However things may not be as smooth tomorrow but fingers crossed!

My Weanling is a filly. She's been put out again today, and looked disappointed to be going out in the rain. Too used to the warm cozy stable. After all the hassle we went through putting her in there in the first place. Typical eh?

Good luck with bringing taz back into work, luckily in my case mum is a brood mare, so I don't have to worry about her, also she doesn't belong to me, though baby does, as repayment for a favour!

Took my mum to see her today and mum was very impressed that baby recognised me and came over for a cuddle ( I think that shows how spoilt she is!) I now have to work on turning her out with the other youngsters and getting them all happy with her!
