The Amazing Invisible HM Dressage Saddle!

This is getting very frustrating! As I mentioned in an earlier post I am thinking of getting an HM Dressage Saddle from Thorowgood, so I went along to one of the local dealers, Barrets' of Feckenham, on Saturday to see one, only to be told, rather rudely, "We don't do dressage saddles!".
So I called another local dealer, Townsfields, to be told they don't have any in, and couldn't get one for me to look at before Christmas.
So I called Thorowgood, to be told they don't keep any in stock and are not open to the public anyway. They recommended I go back to the dealers and peruade them to get one sale or return. As I don't know what size Archie would need, this might invovle then getting a number of saddles at £15 charge for each that isn't sold.

Is it so odd to want to see and sit on a saddle before deciding to buy one?
Has anyone else had this problem?
Any recomendations?

It's very annoying as I am trying to spend money with companies and they are not letting me!!

Try Jackie Roberts Saddlery - 01562 710343 (Romsley, near us)
ask for Jackie herself - tell her Jan & John told you to try her. She may not have one but can probably get one. Christmas is likely to be your stumbling block - Jackie is VERY busy at the mo - but she is usually brilliant.

Bromsgrove Saddlery on 01527 872704, Miles there is very helpful and seems to have good relationship with Thorowgood. I have a HM dressage saddle and it is very good, well worth considering. The wide fit is reasonably wide and should be a good place to start for the larger horse.

There is a real problem at the mo. I give T'Goods an earfull each week. I'm a T'good agent and have had the HM dressage on order since Feb. BETA trade fair.

If Jackie can get one any faster than me ask her how she got it out of them!:D ;) I know Jackie and Jill very well.

Is Ivan Holder still in Bromsgrove, he may well be able to help.?

It is getting very frustrationg now and I think they are fed up with me giving them GBH in the ear, but I was promised delivery in Aug...then Sept....then Oct... then cross thier hearts and hope to die 23rd Nov. honest. It never showed so I have a new date of 16th Dec. I wait, not holding my breath I hasten to add!

Wally, when I spoke to Thorowgood they mentioned a bit of a backlog.... Sounds as if this might be more of a long-term project than I expected. Oh well, good things come to those who wait!

Last time I looked on the For Sale board on here, there were quite a lot of HM saddles for sale.... it might be worth a browse, unless you're set on getting a new one.

There may be some second hand leather ones, but there are not that many Thorowgood ones about yet. Not the dressage version.

I've found one so far, Wally, and am waiting to hear if it has gone or not - keeping my fingers crossed!
