just bought this jacket for mum to show susie (grey section a) and ceryn (black section d) in. its a caldene gatcombe, browny colour with dark green lines (can see it from the pic). the obvious choice of tie was a dark green, but plain or spotted? or would any other colour go with it? (havent seen many green ties about lately)

It suits gold, we had them in the shop.
I would go for a forest green tie with gold spots (or stars if she wants) or a gold based tie. You always need a pattern of some description, but nothing too garish.

take it to a tie shop or a biggish department store and hold a selection up against it. personally i'd go for something a bit brighter to lift it a bit.

ive seen a green tie with gold spots on. what would be the other colours you could get away with then?
i know mum doesnt want anything too bright, nothing to draw to much attention. its her first time at a show and she will be doing in hand shows.

another question aswell. what type/colour hat should she get?

I never really thought it went with red and burgundy was quite dark.
I think the best thing to do is as Mehitabel says and take it to M&S or similar and try it against all the ties.
Hat wise she doesn't need one, i'm one of the exceptions that actually shows a welshie with a hat, but the norm is for no hat to be used with them. If she would feel better with one then a beagler or trilby, I prefer beaglers myself. You can get them cheaply from www.dressageonabudget.com :)

gold sounds nice. my friend has a darker brown jacket she wears gold with, it looks lovely -

i can sympathise with not wanting to look gaudy, but at the same time she doesn't want to be completely one colour.

id go for green personaly.maybe a green tie to show the D and if u could get a suitable burgundy shade that goes, this would look good with the A.
About the hat, if she feels comfortable then without would be better, always make sure u put saftey first-bettersafe than sorry. good luck!!!
