Have you watched any recent arab HOYS qualifiers?
How far apart are the two shows (in distance) and how many classes would you be entering? You could maybe just manage both?
Personally (and no offence meant at all) I feel you are more likely to qualify in the amateurs classes. Basically because in the HOYS q. the standard of ring craft will be very very high and many of the horses are likely to be professionally produced. I know you've done Royal Lancs and Crystal can get a bit excited, have you done anything bigger together? It might be worth trying a few other Arabian shows before hand to see how you measure up against the breeders/producers, as they are the ones who you'll have to beat.
Crystal is lovely and I bet you'll look the part when you get your jacket etc.

The two shows are on at the same place on consecutive days, amateurs 17th June, and HOYS 18th June. We have done group shows before and we have done quite well. I have qualified before for the BAC and wedid fairly well, but that was in 2000, I can't afford to do both days, so I think I will go for the amateurs day, and save the HOYS qualifiers for next year!!! I should have most of my stuff in the next week or so, so I will post piccies!!!! On the amateur day, I can enter two ridden classes, and one in hand, but on the following day I would have three ridden classes, and one in hand, which may be a bit too much for Crystal to cope with at her age. She also goes better at the bigger shows, like she knows she has to perform and she loves it! Still no nearer a decision!!!!

I imagine they are both going to be big shows, and tbh both shows are still quite early on in the season, so you might find it easier without the pressure of the HOYS qualifier.

thing is Daffy, do I tempt fate and leave it for another season, or just go for it? Crink will be 21 next time around, but we will both be better able to handle the pressure. And it is about the only one I will be able to get to. I am doing a qualifier for the VHS on 21st May, so I may miss it altogether, and just go to the Royal Lancs again, and then go there next year, Royal lancs is also a BAC qualifier show, and thinking seriously, I will get hopelessly nervous, as usual, and mess it up...I think it will be the 17th that I go!!! Makes sense really!

I'm thinking like that. I want to do Great Yorkshire, but I know we wont be ready this season. Then I think, well what if something happens next season and this is our only chance? Daffy is only 14 at the moment, but you know what horses are like for problems when you don't want them.
When do you have to enter by, for both of them? You could see how she's going nearer the time perhaps?

14th May is the closing date for entries, and touch wood, I have only had the vet to her three times, except for routine injections etc, in 12 years, so I have been pretty lucky with her really. I think I will go for the saturday, and if I do well, then I am justified, but if I do badly, I won't be showing myself up in professional company.

If you cant do both then i would go for the one you are most likely to qualify at. Its all very well doing the HOYS classes but if you dont qualify and you let a show go where you could of qualified then you will kick yourself

and I got my roayl lancs schedule this morning, BAC qualifiers there as well, so may just miss wetherby completely, Royal lancs is only 5 mins from our yard, so might as well do that!
