This is an 'after the fact' thread but I just wanted to be sure of a few things.
I had the vet out on Monday for a once over on the boys (teeth, sheaths, shots, exams). I spent a small fortune (...thinking of the nice leather saddle I could have bought for myself with that money :() but they're good for a little while now.
Anyway, they were sedated for their teeth floating. The QH seemed to take it pretty hard. He was sweating profusely - is that normal? He also urinated a ton three successive times with merely ten minutes between urinations. We were doing his sheath at the time and just removed the bean when he did his first pee, so Im not sure if his excessive urination had to do with the cleaning or the sedation. Just want to check so that if it was a side effect, to tell the vet next time to give him a lighter dose.
And a testimonial to the importance of equine dentistry. I had my suspiscions all along that he needed his teeth done (Fella is new to me so I am not responsible for the condition that his teeth were in) but wasnt entirely sure that his head tossing wasnt just a result of a severe bit the previous owner had him in. His teeth weren't all that bad - just tall in the back and a bit uneven elsewhere... nothing horrendous according to the dentist. But the day after he was ridden by his sharer and there wasnt a head fidget in sight. Funny how the change can be that immediate.
Thanks for the help with all the above. :) Much appreaciated.
