ohhh, getting veery nervous now :rolleyes: I've got to put hoofpick and hair of the dog in the saddle bag too now (oh yes, and be pie-eyed too by the sound of it :D )

I felt chickening out feelings tonight when I bought her in. She's never been round the side of the yard where you have to exit to hack and there was a lorry parked in her sight. She began deep breathing and stopped and looked. I half expected her to play up but she just looked. I worrygutsied (another one Domane!) that she will spook before I've left the yard even! I reminded myself of an incident a few weeks ago. We left the barn to turn out and there was one of those huge transporter lorries in the yard, on the back of that was a bright red and yellow fork lift truck. She stopped, breathed heavily for a few secs, gave it a good looking at and then followed me on with a little encouragement from me. The next three horses almost yanked their owners arms out of their sockets spooking and napping to get past to the pasture :D :D

I'm reminding myself of her first hack with me atop, she was on unfamiliar territory and just stopped and looked into windows, at cars etc... no worries *gulps*

BTW: I've booked our first lesson with Julia Buckle who was recommended to me via my other thread. She sounds nice and is very experienced with combos like Megs and me :rolleyes:

I did think about suggesting it, but frankly Impster isn't going to need it... Megan is going to be the most laidestbackest (another one!) equine on that hack that Imps next thread will be 'What can I feed her to pep her up a bit?'

Yes, Impish one, best wishes for a lovely hack tomozz! Isn't it odd that when we tried our horsies with view to buy, we went tra-la-ing along the roads with traffic and all, not a care, just enjoying? Now, tho' that seems worlds away. Pretend you are on that first trial ride and you haven't had the inbetween stuff. I've got to the stage where I'm even pretending I'm 11 years old again and completely fearless- but I still sing at the top of my voice and forget to breathe! :rolleyes:

My boy and your girl Imp were sold as Happy hackers - my boy is going well in company and I'm sure your girl will too.

Cooper isn't very spooky either - he is incredibly nosey and looks at everything. If he is unsure about something he has a good look and possibly bends around it or moves a little sideways. I'm sure Megan will be just the same.

Can't wait to hear how it goes.

Been away for a couple of days so clearly missed the first hack thread Imp... Very best of luck.:D :D Looking forward to hearing how it goes. I think you should wear HCs outfit. Worrying about what you look like should stop you being nervous. Except it would probably freak Megan.:eek: Not to mention the neighbours.;)
