Has anyone been told that their horse was younger/older? I was told today that my horse cant be ten as his teeth arnt long enough and he has his seven year old hook just appearing? But his owner who bred him says he is 10? could it be that he is young in the mouth?

Teeth aren't an exact science especially as they get older. You can get an approximate age with teeth but you have to give or take a few years :)

If the owner bred him then I would believe her :)

My friend bought a horse thinking he was 15...teeth got checked and the vet thought he was about 23!! :eek:

But like bay Mare says, its not an exact science. My barn had a horse, who when they bought him, was supposedly 5 years old. The vet thought he couldn't be more then 3 (which was scary, because this horse had been ridden for a good year solidly) we tracked down his papers and the horse was actually 6 :)
