Isn't it? Just one of my observations on life ;)
On to today's shinanigans:
We were all a bit anxious about the impending hack: Here's Barklay, our doggie showing due concern. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/enya/Megan/Barklaylookinghopeful.jpg
Duly armed with nothing more than Hi Viz stuff and a dab of Lavendar Oil we set off for the yard. Nerves, I forgot the 102 things I had to pack to take with me  Except the blow up fettish garb, that's fully imprinted on my memory thanks
I didn't get to ride Megan.. :( We tacked her up, put on her pretty going out Hi Viz pink bum cover thingy, no problems, she was a darling. Sorry about the fuzzy photo, the brightness of the pink had a funny effect on exposure (bad workman blames... the Hi Viz!)

Our very helpful fellow livery undid all our tacking up mistakes and did them correctly (bought a new bridle and made a mash of putting things together).
If you recall the plan was that I would ride Megs and my daughter would ride the other 'Nanny' horse; nope, daughter wanted to ride Megan  ! She's been so afraid of riding her and pushing her and fearing the worst because of her heart she hasn't been keen to ride at all! Anyhoo, thinking this is for the best for us all on she got and off we set.
We had to wait for the other horse to get tacked up as the vet was checking her sarcoids before we left as he was there. Megan waited patiently but did try to go into another barn to speak to a new(ish) arrival, a HUGE chestnut with a bigger bum than hers!
Other horsey stamped her feet and was fidgety to mount. Megan hadn't ever seen that part of the yard and yet stood like a rock to mount for daughter. We set off.
Other horsey, very forward going but sane set of power walking. Daughter said Megs had to keep trotting to keep up, without her requesting trot! Megan doesn't walk fast, Megan does nothing fast - 'cept eating daughter just reminded me
We were just going round the block, along the road and through a quiet church yard lane and back round (20 mins max).
Other horsey, head tossing (rode in Martingale), slight napping at cement mixers, pulling on reins (my arms are killing me)... I think she knew a new, GREEEEEN rider was atop and took the P - what do you reckon... hmmmm?
Megan: according to daughter as she was behind me and I didn't see much: Was very excited, loved looking into windows and noseying around. She said she spent most of the ride with her head turned into the nearside to see things  She did a bit of the head tossing stuff herself a couple of times and daughter 'thinks' she stamped her feet on the trot twice and when we went off the beaten track (tarmac) she got a bit worried and started her head tossing.
She had to negotiate two railway sleepers to get onto the track and daughter was worried Megs would try to jump them as she's never had to cross them before. She didn't, she stepped daintily over them.
The journey back was much the same, a bus passed by me, at the front and I suddenly recalled her seller telling me she was great in traffic... only she'd never encountered a bus!!!! At the time this happened daughter reliably informed me that Megs was noseying into somebody's house and had her big bum in the road so probably didn't notice it
On the whole; IT WAS GREAT!!! However, I want to ride her next time because I feel I copped out... although I'm feeling it now even though it was in walk the whole way it was a tug of war for me
The nice livery person who came with us said 'any time again'... ho hoooo, she's on for a few more of the same me thinks
Happy Imp's are here again :D

Here's a couple more shots if you can bear it:

Ahhhhhh, saddle off, snuggly in stable, now we can enjoy a laugh: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/enya/Megan/Megansfirsthack012.jpg
