Hi there. I wanted to ask a question, introduce myself and my equine critters.

i know this could be a silly question, however i have only used large trailers since we have quite a few horses. I've never used or had to use a two horse. My problem is is that i bought myself a two horse trailer to use for just my small trips with my two arabs. I took my mare feirouz (fea ruse) out to practice today and she was quite nervous, but because we do have the trust thing she followed me in. My problem is she won't back out and it freaks me out since its so small and i could get squished and she is nervous in there as well. I know it takes practice but pointers on how to make it easier on her would be awesome since i need to start practicing with Shii who's never been in one.

thank you.

PICCIES! YAY!
I've never really introduced myself here before so i thought i would. My name is Marie and i'm canadian. These are my babies. Either past or present

First Colonal Santana whos is actually pending on sale to a freind of mine in lethbridge. He is my big saddlebred boy who has a mutual agreement with the donkey for tail trimming. His tail is so tiny! Him and Sarah.

Next we have Feirouz and Me with her colt Shah Sadik in behind me. Fei is my main riding mare at the moment. Lovely Arab. love her to bits. Sadik was sold in the summer to another of my freinds Machelle.

The third is of Shah sadik before i sold him! I really regret having sold him becuase he was a fantastic little guy!

fourth is my baby Shii (RNX Merely Magic) my hope for the future! :D hehe He will be my first complete training progect this fall. Hes a special little guy who just got out to surgery toda for being a cryptorchid! Poor Guy!

And last is Cheeko. He was my first horse when i turned nine, over half my life ago. He was put down last fall becuase he had advanced nervacular disease. He had been mistreated in the past and I was the only one who could get through to him. In that last few years we were really close. when he was rest outside i was able to go out and sit with him while he napped with his head on my knees. I miss him alot and it destroyed me when i gave the ok to put him down. He had that spirit thats hard to find. No matter how much pain he was in he would do anything I asked of him. When we were at the vet clinic when he was diagnosed he wouldn't let me out of his sight, Had to be touching him at all times, or he would have his head on my shoulder touching me ;) silly guy. when i had to leave him for the ex-rays he freaked out. The vets thought it strange beacuse he didn't make a peep while i was with him, be he didn't like me leaving at all.
but anough rambling but HELLO TO ALL! :D

Hi Nanook!

Lovely to meet you and your horses. Thanks for the piccies, they are adorable.

You are very lucky to have had horses in your life for so long. Especially to have had that lovely relationship with Cheeko.

Sorry I can't help with the trailer question - hopefully someone else will.

See you around the threads:D

xx

Hi Nanook,

Welcome to the board:D

You have beautiful horses, Shii is a fantastic colour and such a show off:p - hope he's feeling back to normal soon.

Look forward to hearing more about them.

With the backing out of trailer issue - sounds simple, but one step at a time. Take her on with one foot, let her stand quietly, then ask her to step that foot off. Repeat until she's happy and smooth at doing that. Then ask for another step on (or up - don't know if your trailer has a ramp or not), stand quietly, then back off two steps. Repeat, until two steps on and two steps back off is not issue. And so on. If you build it a little at a time, and don't move on until she's comfortable, it won't seem any issue backing all the way off when you finally get all the way on:p

Hope this helps

I suppose there's no chance of getting a front unload trailer? Fire absolutely would not back out of a trailer, no matter how we tried - and in fact got so bad that we couldn't get him near one. So if she's worried, do take it slowly and carefully - Montans's advice is excellent.
