My TB mare Tess seems to be coming into season more than she should be ie. she's back in season just a week or so after the last one appeared to have ended. She's only just four, is this normal?
Also, she is due to go out this week with a couple of gelded racehorses she's known since she was a foal - can I do this or will they have a go at her? Have had a problem with another 'gelding' mounting her, don't want to repeat this. Feel this one may have been gelded late, hence his behaviour.
Am I OK to turn her out with geldings, even though she is coming into season more than regularly AND behaving in a very brazen way? (lots of high tail displays, weeing etc).
HELP!!!

It could be because she is coming into contact with geldings that she is coming into season more often. I knew a mare who was practically constantly in season because she lived with geldings.
I have had my mare out with geldings in the past with no problem. I think you could be right in that the cause of the mounting could be because he was gelded late. A lot of geldings just won't bother about mares, it all depends on the gelding. So just keep an eye on them for a while.

thanks very much for the posts. I was hoping that was what people would say, because Tess loves being out with these two particular horses - but she doesn't appear to have experienced seasons before now.
will see what happens.

My mare comes into season more often when she is turned out with OH's tb gelding. Lots of winking;) ha ha. He doesn't do anything - mind you, I think she may have stirred some feeling in him, he looked quite keen last week, "bits" hanging out at the ready....:o :p :D

I have a TB mare called Tess too. Sorry, just had to say that! She has a boyfriend in her field and comes into season quite often too, but it doesn't really bother her that much. They hated each other at first and now they're in love!
