reddy- orange patches on hooves??

Bimble has sort of reddy orange bits on her front hooves sort of round where her old nail holes are, what is this? should i be concerned?

ok having done a bit of research im thinking it might be a result of a previous laminitis attack although it is about a year since we think she has had it does that sound likely?

Beauty also has brusing from an old laminitis attack before we got her, you can only see it on her light hooves but she probably has it on the dark one too.

If it's bruising from an old bout of laminitis it'd probably be all, or at least most, of the way around the hoof wall. Can get bruising from other things such as too much concussion in the area of the nail holes, from flared hoof wall, or injury. Do you have any pics of it?

no pics today but can get some tomorrow, its not all the way around tho its more patchy really and worse on one than the other.

Could she have been "pricked" or whatever it's called - where the nails go too deep? Perhaps the stain stays a long time.

Our aged NF pony had a pale reddish diffuse oval shape (2 x 4 cm-ish?) on his hoof wall once that we assumed was a bruise from impact. It didn't seem effect him in any way.

yeah she has, shes not lame at all so surely cant be anything too serious can it???

Bruising stays there and grows down with the hoof wall so could be from a problem that is long gone. One of mine had a good one that I did get worried about for about 5 mins until I remembered that she'd tried to kick her neighbour with a partition in the way. Must have hurt because she now rams the partition with her big a*se instead of kicking :rolleyes:
