when driving

Dont know what has got into Rhi but she has started to rear when we get onto the yard and I'm asking her to turn around to go down to the bottom of the yard so I can unhitch her and put the cart away. She is simply refusing to turn and rears.

Saturday she decided that she would rear as she was asked to go backwards in the cart.

I know she can do all this and I guess we will get her out of it again.

We had one that went through a phase of this, he didn't want to leave his friends and used it to threaten us. Leave the rein back out for a while and work on keeping her going forwards, work on tighter turns gradually. Are you asking her to turn away from somwhere she would like to be?

More than likely as even when I try to take her back to the field she always has to run back to the yard. I basicly think she is throwing a strop.

When we took her on the local field I did some work with her for showing and asked for rein back and she was no problem.

Need her out of it by July/August as we are looking at the kids doing the local show in Junior Whip

Maybe do the waiting game, or have someone else where you want her with a bucket so it is worth her while going the way you want. Don't push it, make her think it was her idea and then she gets the food, is she belly oriented?
