Oh, god, OK! I'll try!

First off, welcome back LD, looks like you had a fantabulous holiday! I'm in awe of your ability to ride that borrowed pony, bareback and helmetless across that rocky beach...;)

Right, updates... not sure how long to go back, so forgive me if I miss anything!

Domane has probably had the most eventful week, hacking out with Dom, who practiced his rising trot in a straight line, and then going on a fun ride, which somewhat compromised Jane's ability to walk for a couple of days.

She's also finally stopped moaning about it being winter, tiredness, and mud, and realised what having a hoss is really all about- and posted a suitably sniffle inducing thread to boot.

Domane has been practicing her hairdressing skills on poor Cherry, who is now known as Cob Marley. She's also found someone who is able and willing to school Cherry for her... and has started and shown Jane just what Chez can do. There's a silly post somewhere about Jane feeling guilty about being a passenger up to now, but most of us are ignoring her;)
Sadly Jane lost her step-dad recently- the funeral went well, and Jane was very brave and read the eulogy.

Imp has had an exciting time too- she's been HACKING- and not just once, either! First time out, her daughter had to ride Megan, and Imp had to borrow an old cart horse with a cart attached, in order to carry all her 'emergency equiptment'... OK, her daughter bagged the ride on Megs and Imp wasn't too pleased, but got on with it on a borrowed hoss. The first hack was not altoghther uneventful, but Imp was very grinny, and enjoyed it and was justifiably pleased with Megan's performance.
Lulled into a false sense of security from this first venture out, Imp then went on another hack, this time riding Megan herself. Good job no one warned her how it was going to be... Megan got chatted up by galloping stallions, got herself in a bit of a two and eight, and REARED and stamped her feet... Guess what Imp did?

No, she didn't inflate her 'HC style' safety suit, she didn't bail out onto the softest bit of ground she could see... she stayed put, rode through it, and managed to reassure her daughter and the other folks they were riding with she was OK... I think she was too;) :D

HairyCob Oh, that's me!:D Well, i've sorted out Dolly's napping problem, schooled her in a field and remained in control, and been on a two hour hack over the hill which involved a HUGE open space and lots of potential for disasters. None occured, phew!

Whatanejit... she's put up her usual informative and entertaining posts about Cooper's latest week... so I'll leave you to read that, she's also got a share (or is it loan?) horse lined up so she and Mr W'jit can hack out together. She also had a very, very eventful hack, where Cooper proved he's worth his weight in gold, by NOT tanking off when W'jits' friend came off her horse, and got cantered over... all fine in the end, but Gina's rider very shaken I'm sure.

Right, that much of an update has taken me the best part of an hour, someone else can do some now!

Trouble is, everyone has been up to so much this last week or so, it's not easy to remember everything!:D ;)

Is this some kind of a joke? How's a poor ole LD going to rise to all these challenges, speshully when she has actually spent most of the week sipping gin and sleeping? (bareback beach riding on borrowed pony v. exhausting).

Me Me Me My turn. I cantered without stirrups. :D Something I have been too afraid to try because Captain is too bouncy in trot. But I did it and smiled and did it again. Nearly falling off because of laughing my head off when bouncing around with knees up to boobs or was it boobs down to knees. :eek: :p

I think I am right with the new NR member janhebb (??) Has bought a new horse called Pi. His first photo on NR was of his bottom.:D Lovely bottom.

Notpoodles Angel is wearing the new fashion accessory a Boet and looks like a giant toffee. :cool:

Oh blimey LD, I've barely started with that update... you wanna hear what NoviceNic and Cazrider and Dummer & Drummer have been up to... perhaps they can update for themselves as I'm so worn out from my 2 hour hack and doing the first few....:D

Just wanted to say HC that I thought your update was BRILLIANT!!! You are such an entertaining writer.... I started off laughing out loud and by the end of it I had a lump in my throat that you went to such bother... I found it moving.... must be my emotions and hormones all over the shop... :(

(You forgot to mention that Cherry got a CLEAR ROUND too in the jumping!! The massive 1ft 6in!!!)

LD - Whatanejit summed it up..... she thinks we've all been tucking into the spring grass as we're clearly all feeling full of ourselves at the mo!!! LOTS of "teenage confidence" moments.... are you sure you've only been gone ONE week??? :D

PS Are your dogs whippets? We had a whippet for 5 years but he is on permanent loan to Dom's dad at the mo as we are not allowed pets in the house we rent....do miss him so.....

Domane! I forgive you your un-Jill's Gymkhana-like display for being a whippetperson; aren't they just the most endearing doggies? yep, we have two at the mo, and have had various other whippet/greyhounds in the past. I bet you DO miss your 'un, and it's such a shame you can't have him with you.:(

LD... have you ever visited www.k9community.co.uk??? Used to be on there all the time when I had the whippie and before the hoss!!! It's like the canine version of NR!!! :D (but quite whippet-specific)

Just to CORRECT HC... we didn't INVADE the under 11s class.... well, we did a bit, but we were by no means the only over-11s to do this and we were sadly NOT included in the rosette-giving (which really bugged me as we went clear and the little ones knocked some down.... *wanders off chuntering to herself*.....);)

I too abandoned K9 for NR, Domane! haven't posted for ages. What did they used to say on there- one is never enough? Have certainly found this to be true with the doggies, but wonder if it'll happen with hoss:D Erm , one's enuff, thank-you, says bank-balance.

Gonna have to flee back to Scotland, or beyond. This is too much.

Me to add, sitting here in Exeter, a long way from Essex:rolleyes: , using my company 3G card, which I'm not supposed to.. :( Quiet week LD for me. Lovely lively hack weekend before last. Definitely everyone on Spring grass.:D Still working on brakes with some success. A couple of people have come to see Sennie with a view to share, but noone right yet. There are two coming to see him over the weekend, so I'm optimistic.;). So, fairly quiet from me. No amazing antics a la the rest of them.
